Are the wheels locked when the car is in park?

When the mini is in park, are all the wheels locked? I am wondering if I need to put stoppers on the wheel when jacking it up? I know for most cars, only the drive wheels are locked. I am helping my friend this weekend and am I need to know what I need to bring.

Thanks

Locked? NO. The transmission is locked, but when you lift one side, the differential allows the car to roll, as the wheel off the ground will rotate in the reverse direction. As I am not sure which end of the car actuates when the hand brake is on, don't trust that either.

Use wheel blocks at ALL times that any part of your body is under the car. Seen one fall, had one fall on me. Good thing I was slim at that time.

Have fun, let us know how the project comes out?

Jim

The handbrake works on the rear wheels.
