How Long Will It Last?

I have had my Mini for just over 3 months. I spent all day yesterday washing, polishing and detailing my car. I have spent almost $1,000.00 on seat covers, interior accessories and other stuff. I have washed her religiously every week only to see the little dirt magnet not survive one trip around the block without becoming filthy. It seems that every bug in North America lives only to through itself in front of my windshield or get stuck in my grill.

I have to ask. How Long Will It Last? How much longer will I strive to keep the little girl clean and shiny? Will it end abruptly with the first ding in a parking lot? Will it trail off from a weekly wash, to monthly, to running it through a car wash every few months?

I have had new cars before and never felt compelled to do more than be able to see out the windows, most of the time. Please help me understand what I have gotten myself into. Understand, I do not mind the Zen of it all but I am curious how this will all play out.

I have my first run in a few weeks. Could a 15% pulley and Borla Exhaust be far behind? Oh God, Solo II is calling. What have I done? What is my future?

I drove 1,000 miles to my first MINI ralley. There, I was told "it's not a car, it's a cult." You'll continue to wash it, alot. A year and a half later, I still do.

Early is on time; On time is late.

No hope is right.....EVEN with Mme. Tresurer on my case, I manage to buy stuff for ole PKT RKT.......the amount of money spent is nothing, however, compared with the amount of time spent cleaning and looking and modifying and just plain fooling around with it.....not counting of course, the track time, the ferrys, the tollroads.....on and on you'll go....

I washed my previous new cars only once or twice! Then, after the first month or so, I'd have someone else wash them.

I've had my MINI for four months already, and I have been washing it myself (once a week) since then! I've taken it to the car-wash only twice, and only because I really had no time to wash it myself!

I had a couple of collector cars back in the early nineties, and I wasn't as careful with them as I am with my new MINI Cooper! I really liked those cars, but not nearly as much as I love my MINI!
