Have used it mine and it makes a difference a little more oomph and also fuel economy on long trips

At only 4p more than normal a bargain, plus if you get the 5p even cheaper than normal

Just checked out the pistonheads link...

Pistonheads they maybe, Eggheads i think not:

"and we were consistently travelling slightly more quickly at the end of the main straight."

I may give it a try- the promise of consistently travelling slightly more quickly is very alluring

They have its called the On Board computer which counts down to Zero (and still leaves a little to get to the station!!!).

Petrol Deliveries

I have seen a delivery truck go to Safeway then go across the roundabout and do a delivery to a BP Garage.

Petrol is petrol when it is shipped to the distribution facility, and gets stored in those huge tanks of theirs.

When the delivery trucks show up to get loaded, the loading station will fill each of their internal compartments with the right grade (RON / Octane level) of petrol and at the same time add in the proper mixture of additives and detergents that are specced for that delivery. It is entirely possible that the delivery truck had a couple of internal compartments designated for the Safeway, and a couple of others for BP.

That is also why supermarket chains have cheaper petrol -- there are fewer, if any, additives and detergents in it, which costs them less, which in turn allows them to sell it cheaper. I always tell my wife that you get what you pay for.

saw this at tescos in cowley about a month ago, didnt think much of it to be honest,

Ive only filled up there once, but there is definatly a difference, I always end up running out just when i dont want to, so i never have much choise in where i go and what i put in, so often change from 95, 97 and then this 99, and with the 95 and 97 theres not too much in it to me, but 99 big difference definatly,
Might pop there in my lunchtime if its not too busy

Here is the Quote from Pistonheads about the 99 RON Tesco Supermarket fuel

The conclusion you’d have to draw is that a high performance car will experience less improvement using Tesco 99 as it's more likely to be running on a higher octane fuel anyway. But all modern cars with an anti-knock sensor and electronic ignition management should be able to benefit from it, according to Owens, not least because it also contains engine cleaning agents similar to those in Optimax.

So if your car needs high octane fuel, your wallet could benefit from using 99 too.
