Apologies if i'm being obtuse, but could someone answer a question for me:

Normal supermarket petrol seems to be derided as cack for you enging, Optimax& Ultimate are better... but is it purely a numbers game? Petrol Top trumps?

I read about additives and stuff, isn't it just petrol?

I'm a bit of div on technical stuff so no science if at all possible.

Cheers

JD... the one with the 'D' on his hat!

fuel shootout in this months EVO

just got my £1 evo trial copy, and they have tested bp/shell/asda/tesco fuels - standard 95, optimax etc, and also racing 105 ron fuel in a bmw and golf gti.
will try and scan in results on monday to save you buying!, a few exceptions particularly stations with old(gone off) fuel of all grades - they suggest using a busy station irrespective, but also say optimax cleans better. fair mix of results from supermarkets due to fuels coming from allsorts of companies texaco, bp, esso, green ethanol.

the premium fuels did perform better in most cases with more power, although a few variances in feel/pulling power at different rev ranges, and a few suprises at the 95ron ASDA being miles better than tesco 95 !(would this be same for 99 ron in the end, so is 99ron tesco same as 95 ASDA in performance ?)...

you could always check read in shop without buying while i sort the scan copy out !

interesting...where'd they get the 105 from...i thought the only public place race fuel was available was the pump at Silverstone, and even that was years ago. They were talking about banning it on the TT stock races because it wasnt readily available because the pumps were only open during track times.

105 ron fuel

Hopefully the following file attachments will work - our crap work scanner im afraid !!
i can always email it if you want the copy.
The 105 ron was Sunoco Race Fuel.
make what you want from these results, but bare in mind the poor quality of some bad batchs of fuels they got, including optimax/ultimate!
