I've done a search to see if there had been a thread started on this, but couln't find one..please delete if there is a thread and I've missed it...
Anyway..Tesco are doing 99 ron petrol at selected stores..
A few scooby owners I know have been using it and there is an improved performance with 99 ron compared with Optimax, and its cheaper at Tesco..plus you get clubcard points!
Anyone here tried it yet???
Tesco's are running a trial in the SE. They are considering reusing their LRP pumps for 99 octane petrol. The following stations have 99 octane:
I Live near Bedford, i may pop down to tesco and see what its like,
ive only ever used Optimax in my mini but it will be intresting to see if its any better. as they say "evey little helps"
I would still avoid supermarket fuels even if it is 99 RON. Honest John in the Daily Telegraph gets loads of letters from readers with one year old cars who use only supermarket fuels and have starting problems and coking - the main problem being a lack of detergent in the fuel.
My local Tesco sells unleaded for 84.9p per litre and the nearby Shell sells it for 82.9p and yet they won't honour their price match as they claim you also get Clubcard points. I only ever use supermarket fuels in hire cars.

Thanks for this Tracie, Tesco Extra in Sandhurst can be on the way home from work for me
I usually run my MINI on ordinary unleaded, however my old Triumph really NEEDS high octane petrol as it was designed to run on 5 star (100 octane!) so a local source of 99 RON will be extremely useful.
'cos they're daft enough to pay the price premium for it. anyone else have a feeling this may be an excuse to keep prices up? the timing of the introduction seems very coincidental
On the subject of petrol, i wish the MINI had some sort of warning when you are about to run out - like I did the other day as I pulled on to a roundabout.
Luckily there was a BP petrol station on said roundabout and a couple of the employees pushed me round to a pump!
