United-Kingdom Clonking from engine bay

Hi all

Had my new 05 Cooper about a week now, and am noticing a 'clonking noise' from the engine bay (front near side I think), mainly when in first gear and depressing the clutch to change between 1st 2nd etc. Also sometimes when engaging first from a stand-still there is a clonk and you can feel a very SLIGHT 'jerk'.

I am not sure if this is a characteristic or something is wrong. I've covered about 350 miles so far.

Does anyone elses 05 Cooper make this noise??

Thanks

As Mario says - but I think you need to better explain the problem I guess my gearbox "clunks" but I don't have any problems (with the car )

I'm no mechanic but it sounds like your clutch may be sticking a little. Should/may loosen up with a little wear.

.........but I could be wrong.
