England Auction MCS for £89

Did anyone see the Mini Cooper S like this that went for £89! on the Auctionair website? Not sure how it worked - something to do with lowest bids.

I think they have auctioned MCSs at least twice now.

Well you have to put in the lowest unmatched bid for the car and pay your £25 to enter then, once they have had enough bids placed they sell the car to the person with the lowest bid (they make their money by selling enough tickets to take £20,000 for a £16,000 car!)

Its a con, anyone stupid enough to give them £25 for the pleasure of bidding for something they have no hope of winning needs their head checking

This is essentially a lottery, not an auction. The costs are all beared by the users who put up their money. Problem is, the outcome can be easily predicted by the site so there's huge opportunity for abuse.

Cheers.

How do you know? Do you work for the company that is taking cash off people?

No, I work in a Medical School so tend to give more back really....
However we did have 4 v reasonably priced nights in a French chateau following an Auctionair bid so I have experience of them and had no problems whatsoever - it would be very naive of them to hope they could get away with taking people's money and then not fulfilling their promises.

And what if the lowest bid just happened to be a 'close friend' of the company who didn't actually take the car? That's a lot of profit.
