BMWCCA Meeting at BMWNA

Attended a BMW Car Club of America membership meeting tonight at the BMW headquarters in NJ.

There was a short and straightforward presentation of the upcoming '03 models by the respective product managers talking about the '03 changes, etc. I was about 45 minutes late walking into the presentation therefore I was not aware if any information has been presented about the MINI in the beginning to share with you. In the Q&A session (which elapsed for at least 35 minutes), a member of the audience asked if there will be a ///M MINI, the BMW rep (I did not get the name but I think he was the head of BMW products in NA) responded that JCW is to the MINI as ///M is to BMW so most likely there won't be one. So I guess it's safe to assume that an ///M-MINI (which he jokingly pronounced mmmmmmMini) will not be produced. I guess we'll look forward to the JCW kits.

In the parking lot, there was not 1, but three yellow MINIs w/ black tops present. (2 Coopers and 1 Cooper S) Any of you guys here in the forums?

The Cooper 'S' belongs to a friend...

and as of last night it has a Rogue Engineering Dual Stripes kit spanning the grillework, across the bonnet, and boot.

Since you were 45 minutes late... you must have missed the part when the group was told that BMWNA did not want to read the next morning a summation of the previous night's events on the online forums.

Re: The Cooper 'S' belongs to a friend...

Only wished I was there early enough so I can type up a comprehensive summary for everyone Really, I did not think the information they provided was really above any enthusiasts' heads. A lot of BMW forums out there already have discussions about a lot of the stuff said. Even in the Q&A, the BMW rep would just move on without answering some of questions that hit on their strategy and such in the coming years. just my 2 cents
