Question Leasing a MINI cooper convertible???

Alright guys,
I'm looking to lease a MINI cooper convertible for around 12 months. I've got a quote for £305 a month inc. vat with TLC pack. Do you think this stands as good value??

I've driving a MINI cooper, but not driven the convertible, yet the look is great, and is great for good weather here in Britian (when we get our 2 hot days a year!).

I'm earning around £2,000 a month, and I think this is enough to cover my costs, but I need to know about fuel consumption. I'm still leaving at home, so no rent, and no mortgage, and insurance is bringing me to around £90 per month.

Overall including insurance: £400 a month not including fuel.

Think this is a good idea, I need a vehicle to work, and I've consider the 05 Golf GT TDi, but I really dont know which vehicle to purchase, trying to weigh up the pros and cons of both!

Any help appreciated!

Many Thanks,

I would move out, but the luxury of having my own vehicle and free rent is too much to take in! ha.

Anyone know about performance in speed of 05 Mini Cooper Convertible to 05 Brand spanking new Golf GT TDi? No extras fitted BTW.

Thanks.

Yes, if it's new it is good value - where from? And what options have you got on that? How many miles per year? Normally leasing comes with servicing/maintenance so why are you getting the TLC pack?

Also, any reasons why you're only going for 12 months? By extending the term you'll get a much better rate.

However, I'd really suggest that leasing is not as good value as a good PCP scheme. Have you considered Sainsbury's Drive ? (Note that to find the Cooper Convertible you have to select Hatchback from the drop down list)

If you want my advice, get a £2,000 reliable used car and save your money for a deposit for a house and stop sponging off your parents - that's your inheritance you're wasting!

I was going through a similar conundrum not so long ago. I test drove the Golf, and although it's got some pull it is B O R I N G as anything. The Mini has oodles more character, is more zippy, turns more heads, says more about yourself and has better resale value than any Golf. Every man and his dog has a Golf!

Go for the MINI!!!

The Golf is marginally faster, but you may get fed up of constantly changing gear to make the most of the diesel torque.

This is the details from the company I'm looking to lease from:
Mini Cooper Convertible
1.6 with TLC and metallic****12 Month Deal****
Another Great Value Deal from Buyndrive.com, ***12 month*** deal 3+11- 10k per annum .Based on Business Contract Hire Personal contract hire available. Contact 01204 537766 or sales@buyndrive.com for all our latest deals.

No servicing or maintenance instead they give you TLC.

Ive not looked into PCP, I'm looking to keep this vehicle for only a year, so I know that A) I won't get bored of it 2) They will probably bring a new model out soon 3) Maybe the Golf Convertible will arrive next year.

Does anyone know about the next Mini Convertible and its arrival date. I heard the Mini Cooper hatch is coming September-ish next year.

I would put down a deposit for my house, but I need a good quality car, that fits my line of work. I'm a design consultant, and I'm liking the fact that the mini has a nice way of moving the seats down for extra boot space, and also I'm only 18, so plenty of time for moving out!

And I take ur advice on the boring-ness, my friends I asked (which were obviously all girls ) said the cooper convertible any day!

So basically need to know about when the NEW mini convertible comes out, cause then I can extend the payments to two years, saving a bundle.

Thanks.

Well, over a short period, PCP may seem more expensive but this is because you are also building up a deposit to put down on your next PCP deal. Most PCP companies try to make sure that their GFV is about 20% less than what they really expect the value of the car to be.

PCP also gives you the option to spec your very own car so you can choose all the funky extras you'll definitely need in a convertible! And you won't get bored of a mini convertible - not even in 10 years It's a no brainer for me.

Given that the new hatch comes late 2006, the new convertible will take at least another year to arrive. Even given that though, I'd shy away from being a guinnea-pig for a new model - I'd wait until they've solved the initial issues with the car, especially given your need for good quality.

The same argument goes for Golf convertibles, but you also have to remember that they are also blurry ugly - don't do it!!

I would definetly look more into the PCP option, you dealer can give you a good quote on this.

Like others have said with PCP you are actually owning the car and will have something to trade in at the end of the agreement, you can even if you like drop out of the agreement once you have paid a certain % similar to leasing as you have nothing to show at this point for all your payments.

Leasing really is not a good idea, its throwing your money away, as the car is never yours.

The new MINI convertible is out in 2008, so the current car will stay for the length of a 2 year PCP agreement

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

Maintenance normally adds on £30-£50/mth so TLC is far better.

For some reason, Mini's are exceptionally good value for maintenance with Sainsbury's Drive, only £8.52 a month including tyres etc...
