Offline | Scraped YES, concerned NO. You learn really quickly not to park right up to the kerb or go front first onto steep driveways ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime ![]() ![]() Unofficial MINI2.com bean counter |

| MINI2 Master | Why, should I be? It goes over speedbumps just fine and isn't an off-road vehicle so it shouldn't go over anything higher. We've had some torrential downpours over the last week and it went through some water several inches deep without any trouble (those Goodyear Eagle NCT5's evacuate water like mad!) though I was sure to reduce my speed drastically to avoid any hydroplaning. | MINI2 Master | My Cooper on 15" hits the ground regularly - speed bumps, bumpy lanes etc... even when going really slowly - no other car I've had has done this. However when you look to see what is actually hitting the ground, you see that its just a sort of plastic lip that runs along the bottom of the front bumper - mine now looks pretty battered (if you happen to be upside down on the ground under the front looking up..) - Rob |

| MINI2 Master | I just recalled a review I read somewhere that said the standard suspension was bottoming out with 4 people onboard but that the stiffer sports suspension (maybe even SSP) did better. I wonder if that is the difference? In Canada, all Coopers get SS while S's get SSP. Harry MINI Cooper Cabrio: now the car with go cart handling really feels like an open go cart! Offline | had no problems so far, Im already set on being cautious over speed bumps etc as my last car was at least an inch lower thanks to a splitter. We've got some pretty severe bumps round where I live, I just ensure I slow down enough after all that is there purpose Be honest how slowly? ![]() MINIless since 2nd of June @12:35pm 2003 |

Offline | Re: Ground Clearance Not now we've got our new driveway down..!! ![]() It used to scape that little plastic lip though but it was a *REALLY* rutted drive on quite a steep uphill slope. |

Offline | The Cooper with the standard 15" wheels will have the most problems. It rides 8mm lower than the One, and 8mm lower than the S (and presumably 8mm lower than the Cooper with 16" wheels). Like lightbody, I have had the front plastic air dam scrape, but only on my garage floor reversing out (there was a quite a dip just outside the entrance). I've been fine over speed bumps and bumpy roads so far. Filling in the dip in my drive with concrete has solved the problem. Of course, I will loose another 4mm of ground clearance when the tyres wear down! |

Offline | Yeah,I'm concerned Ground clearance is something I've been worried about since Day 1. I live 2 miles up a dirt road and then up a steeply rutterd driveway. I've been told that because the wheels are so far to the absolute ends of the vehicle, it shouldn't be a problem. If not, I'll move into the arroyo with the coyotes and rattle snakes. ![]() DeniseK |
