Unhappy Got run off the road today!

I was just driving out of Shoreham, to get onto the A27, driving along a wideish road. Cars parked on right hand side of road. I'm on left. Enough space easily for two cars.

I'm driving along, several cars drive past. Then a bus decides to drive down. Decides that he deserves whole width of road. Me, in panic, end up grating the kerb and going onto the pavement and watch in horror as bus misses wingmirror my a wisker (half an inch tops) and then misses the rear end of my baby by such an amount again. He buggers off, I recover from shock. Observers close their wide open mouths of disbelief. I get back on road and drive off repeatedly swearing to myself.

The damage? See for yourself, could of been worse, whole car could have been trashed:

I'd contact the bus company, giving the time and place, they'll be able to trace the driver from the route.

Send them the picture and the bill for new alloys. If no joy threaten them with giving the story to the local press, "poor little MINI is run off the road by big brute of a bus!"

Thats bad news Phil, sorry to hear that.

I agree with macsport, I reckon you should get a written quotation for a new wheel including changing the tyre over and balancing and send it to the bus company with an angry letter.

fingers crossed

the MINI has gone...

I would do IF I hadn't of been panicky at the time and not remembered to see what bus it was. It was a coach of some sort with purple on it. That's what my (petrified) mate said. I will keep my eyes open for it again. I know I've seen them coaches before. It looks as if its going to be coming out of my pocket though.

I don't know how you guys do it on your narrow roads and wide coaches. In Sicily a few years back a coach took a curve wide and forced me (in a brand new Peugeot) against a lava-rock wall. The coach company wouldn't honor my insurance company's subrogation, so I had to eat the deductible.

On another occasion, a coach in Taormina took out my driver's rear-view mirror, and didn't even slow down. I've wondered how the driver explained his bus' damage to his company.

I think the phrase rhymes with 'clucking bell'!

Dingers right, at least you weren't hurt and it could have been a lot worse. Keep your eyes peeled for a bus company with purple on its vehicles, but don't leave it to long before contacting them.
