Hi Friends!

Just a quick question -

I have ordered my new MINI, and as usual there is the "First reg Fee" of £38. However I have bought a personal number plate (inc all transfer fees) and given it to the dealer to register on the car, so should I ask for the "first Reg fee" of £38 to be removed?

I would think so?

I understand I'll still have to pay the £20 for the plate itself!

Please help if you know or have experienced/queried this?

I had to pay it as you are paying to get the vehicle registered initially

Sounds daft i know!

The First Reg Fee is paid to the wonderful DVLA for being the custodian of your vehicle records.

You have to pay it whether you supply your own private plate or not.

I split the cost with my dealer, and got a couple of freebies
