In Celebration of MaxaMini...

i have an idea for people who are unable to attend services for Ed. i spoke with his family about it yesterday and we have their endorsement. Monday is the first memorial service and also Ed's 58th birthday.

i was thinking that at dusk (between 8 and 9 pm?) in every timezone, people would gather near a river or watery place together, light birthday candles, and hold a vigil. a photograph of the vigil (preferably including at least one yellow duck - plastic, rubber or paper) would be posted to this thread.

we'd all have to motor to the rivers and would no doubt take some back roads. ed would love it. he was into kayaking and fishing hence the waterway destinations. in lieu of taper candles, i suggest birthday candles. they are colorful, celebratory, and childlike -- completely fitting for this ageless man.

so please, no matter where you are in the world, take a moment out of the day to pay tribute to our beloved Maxamini. as he would say, "it's a beauty day to motor."

After work yesterday I went shopping for ducks, and I was following a van with a bumper sticker that said 'Got Ducks?' I took that as a sign... Sadly, ToysRUs didn't have any, and I'm not quite ready to give up the one I got from Ed, so I'll keep looking today. I was thinking of writing something about Ed on the bottom of it with a Sharpie, so who ever finds it might have an idea what it's about.

well, we launched 20 or so duckies into the river near the funeral home. sure enough, there were birthday candles. we also happened upon a fisherman so we musta been in the right spot. pics will follow -- there are some in the thread above that GMINI was kind enough to link to.

happy birthday, edweirdo. motor on, mini friends.

I did my little duck thing last night for Ed, hopefully the pics came out decent, I'll find out (and post) when I get them back later this week...
