Just got off the phone with Mini

I explained the problem and the rep on the phone was very nice and understanding. He explained that there is a cut off right at 36,000 miles and Mini does not offer service beyond that mileage for warranty work that is. He told me that some dealerships will "swallow" the cost of the oil/inspection service and Mini making a deal of 200.00 to me was them actually paying out of pocket the other 200.00.

So basically Mini owners if you have not extended your warranty(which I think is 4-500 bucks you need to have a plan when you get to 36,000 miles if it isn't looking like your going to make that second service. YOU MUST BE UNDER 36,000 to get the service.

The rep told me that some people have this expectation that Mini will cover all these services but it isn't their obligation outside of your warranty.Which is true. BUT does not help the fact that I drove 4 hours after being told it was a "go"

Good Luck.

Miniwee, I'm sorry to hear their response. You'd think considering your 4 hour journey they would waive the cost.

But if the car decides and its not based on set miles I may have made an error.

The service indicator counts down based on how you drive. However to what degree I don't know; I think most people's service indicators get relatively close (either under or over) to the set service mileages.
