from what i've understood this is already possible, but it's a legal issue; can't let the windows up unattended because things might get caught (fingers, heads and various other bits). doesn' make a whole lot of sense to me, especially as other cars already do this. perhaps the mini doesn't sense when something's in the way?
still, i believe some american minis already have the feature switched on. perhaps by a rogue dealer not going by he book. perhaps an early build and the software's since been changed.
