Blue Cooper Mini Newbie

Hello all,

I have been reading your posts, and gathering all kinds of good info. I'm proud to say that I ordered my first MCS today!! I have wanted one forever, and i finally pulled the trigger. I've ordered a purple haze w/ white roof & chrome line trim exterior. I should get her in early November. I can't wait! This is my first new car in 10 years! Any thoughts on purple haze? I can make changes in my order until October.

Hi! Welcome groove coop! I can give you a quick story about purple haze and my mini..

Up until the minute I walked in the dealership to make my order I was dead set on purple haze. As I was going in I took another look at electric blue and I was sold on it instead. Purple haze is a damn cool color but I think may be harder to work with if you want to add graphics etc.. its harder to work with purple then it is with blue, white, black etc.. Thats the main reason why i didnt end up with purple haze. But definitly congrats on your new ride! November won't come soon enough!

Too funny, Ceddy -- i fell in love w/ elec blue as well! Honestly, I probably would have gone with it, but it is discontinued for 2006, so I stuck with purple. I also love the blue-lilac (can't remember the name).

Welcome to MINI2 And congrats on your car choice

I haven't seen so many BEPs (Purple Haze) but I think it's a great colour. Go with the colour you feel best with

I went with the 17-in all-season run-flats. I didn't spring for the web spokes because I wanted bells and whistles instead. The blue I liked is the one that is on the MCS CVT in the galleries. I don't think it's available for MCS hardtop, so that pretty much answers that question! I think I'll be very happy with purple. I'm naming my mini Smidgen. What do you call yours?

Hi and welcome to MINI2!

BEP is beautiful, but remember there are no bad color choices.

United-Kingdom Cheque has gone

I also just paid the deposit on a MCS with JCW, Hyper with Webbies. Also opted for the body colour roof and viper stripes but am having second thoughts on the stripes. Have tried the gallery but can't find a piccy of one.

Pretty psyched but told delivery is start of Novemeber, have to flog the M3 by then !

I allowed my dealer to do my vipers ..you know ...keep it all official..........the guy they subcontract to was completeley useless.they weren't straight ...they weren't where they should be ,they looked cr@p and my dealer relieved me of £240 for the privilege.I was speaking to a local graphics company recently and they reckoned that they could do them for about £70 fitted. The annoying thing is that BMW were using the "aftermarket vinyl stripes may affect the paint/warranty" line at the time ..so as to force people into buying there official stripes ...but they subcontract to a company that uses the same as every other bugger...and the daft thing was BMW came up with a cunning plan to make sure you used the official stripes by putting an authenticity mark in the vinyl which basically consisted of a peculiar shaped hole that the paintwork showed through which ended up looking like a rip.Of course this made people even more keen to have aftermarket stripes.I haven't heard whether they still do the authenticity mark or whether they decided to drop it.One of the best lines i heard from the dealer when i was complaining about the state of the stripes was..."well if you drove past Joe Bloggs in the street ,he wouldn't notice that they were not straight".............YEAH BUT JOE BLOGGS WASN'T PAYIN' £240 FOR THEM

Hey 98mile, congrats on your new mini. You got more bells and whistles than I did! I have to confess that I don't know what viper stripes are. (patience, I'm still a bit new . . .)
Are they different from bonnet stripes? If so, I ordered white ones & this news is making me nervous.

Wonderchipie, I am INSANELY jealous. I'm sitting here in Dallas waiting on my mini, deftly avoiding work I need to do by chatting on the mini forum, and I would just love to be in Paris on a mini excursion! Send pics for sure. Is cabrio red different from chili red?

Thanks for all the positive feedback on PH/BEP. Aprilwhine is right, there aren't any bad color choices.

Groovecoop, yes the viper stripes are different to the bonnet stripes....my dealer hashed up my vipers but i've seen an awful lot of MINIs with viper stripes fitted brilliantly, its just my dealers graphics guy was trying to cut corners.....and the normal bonnet stripes are straight forward to put on...i haven't seen a set of duffly applied bonnet stripes yet.I have attached a couple of photos to show the viper stripes
