England It's Offiial ! Mini drivers wave/flash more in......

Gloucestershire and Wiltshire !! This may be a little controverisal but I have had my MC for nearly two years and at the start everyone waved and/or flashed other MIni's. This has slowly stopped to a point that I probably only get one or two waves a month in the area I live in (Southport, Merseyside). I was down in Wiltshire on business and took the Mini and as soon as I pulled off the M5 to cut across country to Chippenham nearly almost every Mini I saw flashed or waved. Over the three days I was in Wiltshire I lost count of how many times this happened !!
So I am looking forward to my next tripdown to see if it was just a one off or not!!
Back to the sofa for he cricket now..........

I flashed a sexy little Red MCS Italian Job number in Churchdown, Gloucestershire on Wednesday... and got a flash back!

same here in manila... some mini owners flash/wave to fellow mini owners.. even non-mini owners flash, wave and give thumbs up sign! but some mini owners here don't even wave back or give any signals.. they just look and pass quickly... some show off... duh...

When I lived in Colerne a few months ago, most of them looked down their nose at you.

Bath was the worst, I found in Westt Wales nearly everyone waves or flashes.

Down in Dorset its about 50/50

Lots of Minis flash in Cornwall!
I found Mini drivers in the Newbury Reading area very miserable (No offence anyone from that area. I'm sure if I had seen you you would have wavred and flashed )

I am very disappointed at the amount of Mini drivers that wave back at me!!
I live between Bath and Bristol and the first wave I had was on 1st September just as I drove out of the dealer's forecourt with my new Mini ... that, of course, got me very excited! Since then I have only had a few waves and no flashes (I must be losing my touch)
I love the social side to Mini driving but I must admit either alot of Mini drivers don't know about the waving thing or are just plain miserable! Go on spread the word, make driving more fun .... mind you I doubt that is possible for me at the moment as I am having a ball with my new Mini (Max).

We're quite a friendly lot in Gloucestershire

Seems to be a bit of a black spot around Cheltenham though - loads of MINIs but not many waves (or smiles )

930 sunday morning heading from wimborne to wareham in dorset got 7 wave backs!!!!!!!!! most ever owning this car!
it is however a solid black..no stripes mcs (perhaps it looks a bit boring) and i was told by the first mini owner i met about two years ago..and i quote! "dont get a black one...their all snobs and dont wave"..perhaps thats why i allways have to flash first .
i have also found that middle aged women NEVER wave back.. snobs

Got to say I like this thread . We have occasional off days but in general I get lots of
waves back when trolling around the countryside .

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs

Had another business trip this time down to Chelmsford, Essex and then over to Stevenage, Hertfordshire. 2 Days away so took the Mini and got no waves or flashes, not even a smile! Saw quite a few Mini's, probably 20 plus. So is Herts/Essex the most Mini unfriendly place in the country?

Sort of bizarre here on the East Coast of the U.S. of A. MINI drivers tend to fall into one of three categories:

1. Those that looked so freaked out by their driving experience that all they can do is go into target lock on the road. These people are usually driving slowly. My theory is they, like most Americans, have never driven a highly responsive car before (or a small one), and they're afraid that if they alter their posture they'll suddenly whip off into the ditch!

2. Those I typify as "Too Cool for School." They prefer to be seen rather than to see.

3. And the majority (60 percent plus) who wave, scream, flash and/or beep, and who will often chase you through traffic, follow you into parking lots, or pull up next to you at a red light to have a bit of a coversation.

I belong to group #3.

I have to say, though, that MINI spottings have no pattern here. Sometimes I'll go for a week without seeing any, other times I'll 15-20 in day. Overall, though, the numbers here are growing.
