I've just disconnected my negative terminal on battery and....

I've closed the boot.
but the boot wont open now.
Any clues on how i can open the boot.

On newer models there's an emergency manual release under the back seat.
This was an '03 change

I thought the boot was opened by a mechanical connection(see cable actuated). If so why would disconnecting the battery have any effect?

No, the system is electric. Next time you open your boot, press the release switch a few times and you'll hear the mechanism down below.

I usually slid my hand between the back seat and the cover (it bends enough) and pull on the seat handles which then fold down and then access to the battery either connect the battery back up or plug the charger in for power.
