OK, somebody hit my car today, not the end of the world i know, yeah I'm upset, but what upset me more was the attitude i got from this guy.
Somebody came up to me at nursery and said my car had been hit but the guy asked who's it was and said he be back.
My friend and i were looking at the damage and he came up , with his arms in the air saying "it was me, it was me", so i smiled and jokingly said "I don't think bumper care will fix that" and laughed. OMG, he went into one saying it was because of the way i had parked! Er dha, i couldn't have got much closer to the kerb if id tried.
I was calm and asked if there was any damage to his car, ( a kia) , he said yes , so i asked to look. Well, he showed me this damage , a huge scrape along the sill below his door. Now I'm not stupid , but there is NO WAY that damaged was caused by hitting my car my friend and i laughed and told him this , and i said all he wanted was to get old damage fixed on my insurance!
He then called the Police saying i was disputing the fact that damage done to his car was due to the said accident. I told him the Police would take one look at the damage and compare it to my wheel arch, and it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out that the two wouldn't match up !
Any way , cutting this very short , he was still trying to intimidate me , but there was no way i was gonna give in , he hit a PARKED car, and when his insurance company found out he wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
Ive been to BMW and found out costs etc, but he can sweat for today, who does he think he is treating me like I'm stupid?!?!
Moral of this story is: Just because I'm a woman , it doesn't give wan@ers like him license to treat me like a third rate citizen !
What a nightmare!!! I was hit by a car when I had only just parked my test and they guy treid to intimdate me into thinking it was my fault too - why would anyone do that!
Thats well crap! id be gutted if someone hit my car, specially if they then started saying it was my fault! Cheeky so and so!
Hope you get it sorted! if its just the plastic trim that is damaged, they are quite cheap! I found out after scraping mine down the side of the garage!
Stick to your guns, and get him to pay you cash after his insurance company laughs at him and use the money to get your arches colour coded if thats your thing...
I hope you had a camera to document your arguement, though you wont have too much problem with the claim, just in case re-visit the site and take som picies of the road/junctions/signs/parkingbays just to support your claim if he insists on 50:50.
Luckily last time someone hit my car i was able to take pics from my camera phone of their car + dammage, vs my car + road positioning etc. I didnt need it in the end, but it scared the pants of the other driver at the time!
He's obviously deluded if he thinks your insurance company will even contemplate settling when your car was parked and he admitted hitting it at the scene, even better that you have a witness that (i'm assuming) heard him do so.
Just another example of some of the idiots that reside in our country!
I hope you have taken lots of photos of the damage done to your car, as well as on his, including the scrape he is trying to back claim, and have witnesses' statement etc...
