Thanks everyone for the advice, still aint fitted...I had a go on Friday when I had 2 hours to play with. However major fail, the bolts didn't resemble bolts!

Ive got a mechanic going to fit it in his spare time, when this is I don't know!

Thanks again for advice

nothing too major colin, I just couldn't get the bolts themselves off

Mines were also rusted, therefore making the bolt simply turn into a curved edge rather than grooved. The mechanic though is going to use a burner 8)

Cheers

Possibly. Chaps at my local garage had to get a saw out at some point...

United-Kingdom

Managed to fit my S system last weekend. All old brackets and system came off OK although I did soak all bolts with penetrating oil an hour or so beforehand.

Used 1cm nuts to lower rear mounting brackets and everything lined up fine. Trick seems to be to do everything up finger tight, and then tighten from front, centreing it as you go. Only snag in the process was that the 6 M8 nuts for the bolt on brackets were missing from my kit. Easily fixed.

Really pleased with the quality, service and appearance of the system. Particularly glad to get rid of the beer can appearance at the rear. Only disapointment is that the sytem is as quiet as the original! My wife did not realise it had been changed. It is a much nicer noise with a burble at idle and the overrun popping has lost its tinny sound, but under load no noticeable difference to the BMW one that came off, either internally or externally. It does seem from this thread that they vary a bit.

Has anyone tried it without the central silencer at the front of the system.

cheers

Give it a few days! It'll get throatier. You sure you don't feel smoother power delivery?

Some of us did go from rusty 5-year-old OEM to shiny new Milltek - helluva difference

I went from a fairly new (2006) oem exhaust to the milltek and i was actually worried about how much louder it was straight away! Then again I remember when I fit the milltek on my ONE it didnt make much of a change to the sound until it was run in...

No kidding! Replaced a 4.5-year-old OEM exhaust that literally holed itself on the morning I got the Milltek fitted - not a moment too soon! Definitely got my money's worth out of the stock one.

Definitely, sounds much better after a couple of hundred miles.

Hi, does anyone have any pics of this exhaust fitted to a MCS with the standard rear bumper fitted?

I'm looking to get a Milltex system for mine but I don't know if it'll stick out too much with the standard bumper?

Thanks.

It doesn't stick out at all, on either the Aero bumper or the standard S bumper. I've only got pics of mine with the Aero bumper, but I'm sure one of the other guys will be able to prove me right

Hmm, okay I stand slightly corrected, I really didn't think it was as prominent as that...

Got mine fitted woohoo! Liking the sound alot, although I;ve only done aroud 30 miles with the car so it can only get better! Was a doddle for mechanic to fit, and no need to replace hangers etc...big +!

Thanks so much too Nylo and Lohen for organising this great deal, I would of never considered buying the milltek without their hard work.

Cheers, Ryan

i got mine fitted but IMHO i feel that it is slightly too far in! so mines at the mechanic whilst im on my holidays for 2 weeks to get it adjusted, and i can enjoy the sound because there is a stupid rattle in the boot that makes me put on the radio! so hes going to work on that too!

is that further in because of the aero kit? mine isnt as far in as that! but i just have standard cooper S bumper on mine, heres a pic!

my mechanic is having a look to see if he can adjust the part where the pipes slot in together to see if he can get anymore length on it!
