I may be missing something (or being particularly thick, take your pick) but all the 'group buy' schemes seem to be for MINI2ers in the US!

Outrage!

OK well hardly outrage, but there was a recent rear sway bar 'group buy' which I would gladly have participated in - had it not been set up in the US!

Is anyone in the UK interested in doing something like this? Is it possible? Has it already been done and I've spectacularly missed it?

I was the organizer of that group buy you referenced (rear sway bar). I think it might help if you put in the title of your thread "UK" or "Europe" group buy. Also, since there are regional forums, I would highly recommend, once a thread is started, to inform them over there to visit this one, if interrested in performance upgrades...

Have in mind what you want to get first though. I feel that will help to have such a direction. It's not always what you want per se, but what others want as well. So, I would use timcuculic's group buy survey as a gauge as to what folks want these days. It appears that exhaust (cat back) is pretty high and well as headers, from what I recall. He's taking care of the intake now...

I have set-up two group buys here (QS cat back and the Madness rear sway). Contact the vendor of choice when you feel you have at least 5 or so solid buyers. And, for what it is worth, I don't think George (MINI-Madness) or Randy (MINI Cooper Motorsport) would have turned you down due to your location. Unless you meant shipping costs was the deterrent. If so, I guess you would be pursuing vendors on your side of the pond then. Nip that in the bud and talk with George and/or Randy (or others!) to see how they feel about international orders. With a group buy, they might make the deal a little sweeter for you, given your shipping costs. Ask!

Decide on the upgrade product (not necessarily the exact one or vendor), start a new thread and x-post in the UK regional forum and see what happens...

Thanks for that Tony - really helpful! Will do my investigations and see what turns up. It was, in fact, shipping costs that prevented me from sticking my oar in on the sway bar group buy - shipping costs and import duty could negate any savings made.
That said, it sounds like you've got a few contacts in the business - if this gets off the ground then I may get in touch with those guys you mentioned and see what comes out of it!

Anyone interested in trying to do a UK 'group buy' scheme? If so, does anyone have any preferences for what we should get? It would be a part for One or Cooper - not S - unless the part is universal to all models.

I quite fancied a rear sway bar, but if anyone would prefer anything else....

Am just fishing for interest / ideas at the moment - that said, if 5 people come up with something and it's something I might like as well, I'm happy to do the organising. Otherwise, well, if anyone organises one....
