there are no sensors really.... the system uses the ABS sensors to monitor wheel speeds, on a flat the wheel turns faster as the diameter reduces.... the sensors detect that as a flat... thats why the sometimes dont detect the gradual loss of pressure it tyres....

Tempted, but still watching at the moment -- have a couple of irons in the fire on other options to look at.

One thing that does interest me is how thick the spokes are?? Can you tell me LB, how thick they are having not seen them in the flesh

Honestly, I couldn't tell you how thick the spokes are - Grings would be the best man to ask. Check this: http://www.newmini.org/images/downloads/small/wall5.jpg it shows the wheels side on quite nicely. If you're not tempted after checking this link then I'll be very surprised.

I promise if you order a set I'll put up a big NEWS UPDATE just for you

hehe you dont get me that easy -- I quite like the style, but I've seen nicer and thats the thing for me, why sign up for something that I only quite like, when there are other wheels out there that I like more.

I will continue to watch with interest and may 'dive' in at the last minute if other things don't happen for me elsewhere with my 'wheelwatch'

Were those Brain's Hartge's that you bought northandy?

If they were then they certainly were a bargain.

They've done some miles if they are, Germany to USA to GB!

Sorry to go off topic here guys but how was the process and cost of shipping them over, and Customs & Excise all handled. I've had some exhorbitant quotes and also people just not interested! Could you 'pm' me sometime please.

Thanks,

Alan

Ho, Ho, Ho

I love super-l's, but they are way expensive for 18's and I love NorthAndy's Hartge's and again they are massive money, but I have seen others such as ADR's and the like that are pretty sensible money...

The wheel I really like I CAN'T get as the company that sells them in the USA does not export to the UK (Flik), but I have seen some others I like in the US that I am currently looking at (Kinesis & HRE's)...

Waiting for answers to see if they will ship over here and costs, other option is that Routecompany thread as well, they look the Mutz

Almost made my decision. Can run-flats be installed on these rims. Living in the desert states without a spare is not a good thing.

There is nothing different about the S-Spoke or X-Lite wheels that allows them to be fitted with run-flat tyres.

Therefore I would suggest that a run-flat tyre could be fitted to the Dare X4 wheel, in theory.

Unfortunately you will not find many run-flat tyres in an 18" size. The only one that I know of is the 205/40 x 18" tyre that is fitted to the JCW wheels and this is a bit narrow for the 71/2" Dare X4 wheel IMO (The JCW wheel is only 7" wide).

Once again - thanks for answering the techy questions 'Wheel Guru'

I think a few BMW's have 18'' runflats but not sure how wide they are. I'll try and find out if anyone makes a 215/35 18'' runflat.
