![]() JCW GP | Hi.. just thought I'd mention that I'm getting a set of JCW brakes fitted at the end of this month by my local dealer... I'm too far away for the group buy anyway The make up of the costs I was quoted was £550 + Vat for the parts plus 3 hrs fitting time. My dealer has given me 10% of the parts and his labour costs are very low, which means that the cost to me is just below the group by cost... It would appear that they've offered you a similar discount.... It may be worth pushing them a little more or getting a better rate on the labour if the do the cars around the same time... Just a thought ![]() BTW... has anyone driven a car with the brakes fitted??... ![]() |

The response has considerably more bite and provides better deceleration. The Brake casings are finished in red and marked with the JCW logo" "Designed in conjunction with JCW and BMW group brake specialists, the sport brake gives a sporty driver additional safety, particualry when the brake is subjected to high thermal stress.Even with sporting properties, no deterioration in comfort will be experienced compared to the series brakes" hope that helps peeps (info taken from internal BMW marketing bulletin) PLEASE NOTE to help pete with these i wana say these are not just for high performance minis !!! these will also fit Mini One, One D, Cooper S Hatch and Convertible models ! its your safety thats counts guys n gals THANX.....the mole ![]() ![]() THE Legend who helps ALL MINI owners |

![]() JCW GP | I'm not sure I would agree that the brakes are great as standard... I've certainly found a few times where I needed a bit more bite from them... I think it's accepted that the JCW brake kit will not compare to the likes of the Brembo or AP Big brake kits which a few people have fitted, but I would argue that they are more appropriate for track use or on MINIs that are used mainly as a weekend fun cars... These also have limitations when used on an everyday car... I'm told that the JCW will sit somewhere in between these and the standard... They have been engineered by BMW/ JCW so they will have tested them for the car and ensure that it doesn't upset the brake balance... Pads should last a decent length of time and will form part of the regular service... only with a different pad type and everything will be covered by the warranty. It may appear to be VFM by changing the existing pads to the likes of Green stuff, but I've also heard a lot of stories of them seriously reducing the life of the standard disks. It really depends on what you want... The fact that the JCW calipers are red is a nice touch, but tbh I'd be just as happy if they weren't I just want something that performs better than standard without going over the top. Time will tell how good thay actually are and no doubt this will transcend into the usual JCW is over priced and under performing discussion that's been seen many times before, but lets not go there ![]() ![]() Last edited by CooperID : Feb 13th, 2005 at 07:09 PM. |

![]() Taller Than You! | I was at JCG on friday getting my S modified to JCW and they had the JCW brake kit in a perspex box next to their strut brace (£220). The brakes looked like stock ones painted red with a JCW sticker, tbh they didn't look that great. And the discs looked the same as the stock ones just a little larger, not drilled or grooved. Think they were labeled @ £886 ish... You can get brembo / tarox or AP racing kits for similar prices. I have some pics on my digi cam which i'll post soon. |

| I am not a number!! | I think this is a great mod for those that are JCW fans, and those that want a mod that is not as common as some others like exhausts etc. So made the thread a sticky as its something that could benifit other users ![]() Its only a forum you know! ![]() |

| 220 of your finest horses | In the market For new anchors on the Superbee so chalk me up as "interested" for ther brake conversion I would like to see the detialed specs though as I've heard conflicting things about the upgrade - but I like the idea of it not affecting the warranty Cheers Pete!
