I got talking to a friend of mine last week about window tints. His dad Owns Qualatint (formally Lustalux) a tint firm in Preston (Northwest) that do all the work for the local dealers (inc MINI, BMW, Audi and Merc) they've also done many celebs are e.g ryan giggs ferrari, and even our own scooby 212's chav vtr!! . Originally I was just after a price for me and a couple of mates to have our fronts to match the factory rears, and thought I'd it up anyone fancys the drive! including people without factory tints.

NEW INFO:

the prices below are for one car, not the group buy, but are confirmed.
> Front Drops - £75 + VAT
> Quarters/Back Screen - £150 +VAT
> Full Tint - £210 +VAT

FULL PRICES

as long as every 1 confirms or we get more these are the prices

> Full Tint - £175 inc VAT

Also they have said they will want to be doing the cars over the course of a week, im sure you can all find one day you can make it down!!!!!

The tints percentages available are as follows:

5%, 20%, 35% and 50% with 5% being the darkest. you can pick whatever you want

they've suggested that we sort out who wants what then on the day organised bring in the cars, and the guys will get the samples out, and you can choose your tint then, this is the best way really as the colour of your car and indeed interior can have a big say in how big a difference the tints make.

Please put down weather your a maybe or a definite and if you need just fronts or all round.

Very interested. The best quote I'd had for fronts was £95. I live in Harrogate so it's a nice drive over to Preston.

Put me down as a maybe until I get confirmation of dates etc.

I have the factory tints on the rear.

I would like the fronts doing a fraction lighter than the factory rears but would settle for a match.

a fraction lighter shouldnt be a problem i'll try and get a full range of tint percentiles soon.

will organise dates when i have an idea of numbers an they're free for a whole day at least (thats a couple of weeks, there busy as rite now)

Yea, probably interested - not sure of when I'd be able to get up there as even from Leeds its a bit of a trek (my parents live in Leeds so I could use going to see them as an excuse ) but it sounds like a nice idea and I've always thought it'd look better than now (just the backs at the mo)

Will these tints be road-legal? It's just that I've read about people being pulled-up by the Police in the past and being asked to remove them on the spot.

no tints on the front windows is legal im afraid now. the best job is to have a step between front an back (which i think we are doing) really you should be fine unless u attend cruises and the like which attract easy pikking for the police or are just plain unlucky!

even if u match the factory tints there not really that dark so the chances of getting pulled are pretty slim

basically the legislation is aimed at fools in novas who have just painted there windows black with gloss paint!!!!

matchin factory on a nice looking car should not be a problem, unles u run into a particularly nasty cop

I have used this firm before when i had my erm erm chav saxo vtr - i went for all round solid black (oh dear) hehe

the only problem i had which meant me returning to have the film replaced was that with the Saxo the door/window was so tight that it scraped the film and left lines which really did look naff.

if they can guarantee no scratches then id be interested in the lightest of tints all round

i'll ask for there gaurentee, but they do all the work for the local mini dealer, and at least one mini2 member has then (bubblegoose4rh) he sed they are mint, no scratches etc etc, there on a 52 car as well so long term they luk fine.

I am interested and would want all the car doing, any chance on getting rears done 1st and then perhaps fronts, you so the cost is split up for me, if not, dont worry.
