Ian, I saw the strut brace on a Cooper today, to fit it the battery lid has to be fully removed, as if you just cut out a section and then fit the brace you can't gain access to it should you ever need to charge it or jump the car, so I was told

Nah shouldn't cause any problems...

...look at the following pictures. You can see where the "seperate" positive connector is maed by a "+" sign within a circle. The negative section is actually where the engine mounts to the chassis, if you look you'll see a "-" sign again within a circle. This is embossed on the metal itself.

Is there any heads up when this is going to be sorted?

The strut brace fits a Cooper S and is covered under waranty as such. It will fit a Cooper I believe but the battery cover has to be removed and is therefore not warantied by BMW

Spare battery cover is only £11 so will have one at hand
