Online | I have no problems with that scenario Pete. And would be happy to drive up to Sydney to collect. Todd is thinking of heading up to Sydney soon as well, so there will probably be ways of getting the gear to Melbourne within the MINI2 community I reckon. My only concern is that by getting all the goods sent to one location we're ripe for the picking with customs. That said if we're still getting a good deal on the actual goods, and we're presumably likely to save a bit on postage then even if we do get a Customs charge it may not be that bad, although I'm not aware of the rate that gets charged, but I think it is under 20%. But if the invoice falls under the import threshold we might be right in any case. ![]() |

Online | Oh, Pete can you go into your User Control Panel and activate the setting that turns on pop-up messages (you should then get a P icon under your avatar, like mine), that way it is a bit easier to attract your attention. ![]() |

Offline | Guys... I hate to be the sticky wicket here... but the whole one delivery address may mess with my order a bit..... I don't want to sound negative (so please do not read it this way) but given that we are not sure on the final pricing it may actually work out cheaper for me just to buy an AlTA CAI from a vendor and have it delivered directly to my house, rather than go in on a buy, pay my part of the postage and then have to pay for more postage to get it down from Sydney to Melbourne. I will give Todd a call today to see what his plans for a trip to sydney are? Sorry guys..... I kinda came in on the group buy when I saw they were not going to the one address andcould be delivered individually. Please do not think that i do not trust anybody... I just don't wanna end-up paying more than I normally would for on an item that started out cheaper. Hope we can work somthing out -Dan ![]() |

| Sparkling Silver R56 | Hey Fellas Lucky i spotted this thread... i was looking to buy an intake as we speak. Just thought i'd answer a common question i found in previous pages... regarding warranty; i phoned BMW head office and spoke to the 'warranty claims person'. He said its all good... they dont pick at minor non-genuine upgrades... unless of course it does affect a warranty claim'. I asked specifically about the air intake upgrade and he said it will be fine. The company i work for just decked out 5 SMART cars and spent a **** load of $$. I was in the workshop last week - 'Euroticar' as i had to pick up one of the cars. The owner there upgrades Cooper S's with K&N Intakes and Pulleys. He reckons he could do the lot for me @ approx $300. I'm not sure what to do... as i know the Alta's seem to be a better filter. I could always start with the Alta filter then buy an Alta pulley later.. or just spend the $300 and have the whole lot done. hmmm.... Anyway i might be keen on this group buy... is there a confirmed total price (including postage) ??? I'm happy to drive to blacktown. I live in the Inner West. Mic AKA: Robot Features |

Online | Dan, she'll be right mate. Even with postage I'd expect this to come in at under RRP. Effectively we're getting the hose for free, so it's all good I reckon. Robot, Pete has already placed the order AFAIK, so while you should still be able to get in on the act, if you wish, it might be worth sending him a PM. ![]() Cheers Liam |

| Boy who made the wolf cry | Not that we are doing anything illegal or anything, but bringing the CAI kits in in as one large package is not the wisest I dont think. I think you will end up getting slabbed for GST, import duty etc and it may end up costing alot more than you expected. You have what, 8 people interested? At say AU$300 each that is $2400 worth of stuff... in a very lage package. Customs will not like that! I really think you need to sit down and contact ALTA via the phone and discuss the concept with them further. The postage side of things is what you have to organise - and fast. Dan is speaking logic. PROJECT POLARIS - Die Wiedergeburt eines kultautos |

| Twincharge??? | The rules (if they haven't change) are if it's coming in via air it's generally $200AUD value before they will slap taxes onto it. Sea is $1k before taxes will be added. I can't imagine a whole stack of CAI's sent from Alta to Aust. There IS a limit on how big the actual parcel (I am talking about USPS here, ignore me if it's something else) can be - mind you, even a 17x7" rim can't be sent from overseas to here and ask Kev how big is the Alta CAI box? If I didn't remember wrong, it's 1/3 of a 17x7" rims box. 20kg max per parcel too. My relatives have sent me something around the same size and weight from the US a few months earlier and it cost them $38USD to here via EMS. Plus taxes (I was hit by Customs ) sea mail would've been slightly more than half of that. One option is to find a proper freight co to send it all in, ie BAX Global. They calculate freight based on space taken (m^3). Not a cheap option but will get to Sydney in about 2-3 days? Given Alta's box is pretty big, it wouldn't be cheap either. Who knows, it might be possible to tell Alta to pack all the CAI's in one big box and send it that way. Saves freight but there's no way you could get away with tax. If they gonna do it for real, it's 10% duty then 10% GST but if it's a good day for them then just 10% GST. Good luck anyhow ![]() |

Online | That could work. ![]() As I said I'm happy to collect from Sydney, although obviously a direct delivery is more convenient. Would it be possible to maybe do this like the latest Whalen GB, whereby once the price was agreed on we all just dealt with the vendor direct? ![]() |
