Just to help you out Pete...

Click HERE to see factory write up on the ALTA Cold Air Intake including diagrams.

The intake only is normally USD199.99 , so you get the silicone tube for free... that is a saving of USD60

Is this a Worldwide deal? I would say even if you paid GST on the product, you would get it into the country for AU$300 - which is an excellent deal...

I had the ALTA intake on my car and it is a very professional and factory looking part. The install is relatively simple (IF YOU HAVE ALL THE TOOLS ) - a HOW-TO can be seen HERE

How about you put a deadline for orders on it - the 20th of July 2005...

Add your name to the list!

Great effort Pete... make sure you all rep him for his Group Buy efforts!

Also as far as I remember, the silicon tube is available in a range of colors - including black, blue (above) and red... so if you want to make it look stealth, or if you want to make a feature of it, you can...

Hmm, interesting. Good price there Pete.

My understanding is that, courtesy of the FTA introduced on January 1 this year, any goods from the States under AU$500 should not attract GST or customs chgarges.

Would these be sent individually to each buyer, or to one central address?

Not sure about where this is going to be shipped to (ie central address vs. individual ones ) iam still trying to find out what kind of shipping costs are involved but will post details once i find out.

Thanks for the details Todd - im planning a DIY installation ( lol this will be interesting )

Hey Lima, the good no longer attract import tax, but will be subject to GST depending on how they are posted...

No problamo Pete... DIY is easy if you have all the tools

Ok this is what i have been told:
"The shipping cost will depend on how many you planning ordering. I need your address, and you may think about finding your own shipper. USPS should be the cheapest, and UPS will be much more, but it would most likely get there sooner. We shipped a single Mini Intake USPS today for about $50, and in UPS it was about $100. Now this will change with higher QTY's. But if you plan on $50 each intake that would be a high quote."

Im just checking if this can be sent to individual addresses (preferred option because it saves me from driving up and down NSW to pass these things around and we would save on GST ) or one central place. But the way i read it is in order to take advantage of savings on shipping costs it would have to be one central location (cheaper postage, but GST probably will make it the same plus i have to run around to give this to everyone)

Anyhows - does anyone know of a shipper from the USPS that import to Australia?
Ive got no idea on who to use.

- Otherwise it will be shipped via UPS which is approx $50.

-Pete

NB. We need at least 6 people to make this happen !

Yeah, just bought one from Dairyboy

Can you ask if there is there any chance of buying the hose on its own? As I'm keen to get a nice blue hose

US$50 for shipping is a bit of a killer, but I'll see. I think I'd like one, but just need to see how it fits in with the cash flow.

Maybe you can do abit more searching around for postage... USPS are very cheap in comparison... it cost me $22 express overnight postage I sent one to Sydney.... It was going to cost me $50 AUD to go airmail to USA... with a deregulated postage system over there, surely it can be found for cheaper than USD50!?!

There probably is a way but ive got nfi how to find out.

Worse case scenario there will be one central location ( share the postage and GST ) and we'll work it out from there. - i wouldnt mind a driving halfway to canberra to drop it off (provided i can drag a few other mini's with me )

Ok just got informed that one address isnt necessary - so in terms of postage costs: economies of scale applies (ie the more buying the cheaper postage becomes )

Hhahhaha nice to see econmics be used in everyday conversations there Pete (economies of scale)

Have we got an accurate postage for 6 ALTA CAIs yet?

If we get the total item + shipping price, maybe more ppl will be interested.

Max.

Hey, does anyone know if ALTA makes blue coloured filters, or just blue hoses?

Well i dont wanna start asking the vendor ( and annoy him with 100 questions everyday ) a quote on postage costs until we have definite numbers .

but put it this way - the most u will pay is for the ALTA CAi and SILICON HOSE is $250USD landed!!

Liam - havent seen a blue filter yet ! not sure how this is going to go with ur colour coding
