New 'Posh Mini (Gt Tuning ) GearKnob Kit -1st Pics !

Hi Guys , Here are some snaps of the new Gear Knob, Gaiter & 2 part Surround.

Comes as a complete kit :-
GEARKNOB Solid aluminium, copper & chrome plated (more depth) ,GTT 'Retroslot' design, integral beefier shaft, yet the 'ball' is marginally smaller than stock, decorative O rings to compliment the O rings used on our Handbrake Grip. Some provision for height adjustment too.

GAITER Genuine Audi TT Quattro item.Keeps its shape in any gear position.

GAITER SURROUND (Top) Machined from solid bronze ,bolts using 8 Stainless caphead bolts supplied.

GAITER SURROUND (Lower ring) Solid Aluminium,Moves the assembly up to give a more sports car appearance, effectivley makes the 'over long' stock gearstick shorter too.
There will be optional O Rings to go in the 2 grooves around this too (not shown)
Production items will be plated, possibly silver or black anodise or maybe chrome . What do you think would be best for this part?
Regards Roland GT Tuning

That looks really good! I think that the chrome looks fantastic! Any idea on how much this will cost?

I'm partial to the black option, go with all anthracite interior, eh?

Looks great. Love the design.

Any idea of the expected cost ?
Will it an "easy" DIY fit ?
Does the gear knob have the 6 speed gear pattern on it ?

Cheers

Hi Guys,
thanks for the positive comments . The original shaft needs shortening as not only do we bring the gaiter surround UP but the gearknob is lower too. If we didnt shorten the shaft it would still look too long. This is easily acomplished in situ using a hacksaw so no need to remove the lever assembly, just cover up around the cantre console with a dust sheet. For those of you who like to know something is 'reversable' ,you can always buy a new complete lever assembly from BMW for around £30,if you realy wanted to, though once its fitted I dont thing anyone would be bothered to revert back anyway. There is no 6 speed pattern indicator . Price will be £149+vat,but we are doing the first batch to M2 users at £129+vat. You do need to see this product in the flesh.
It is DIY fittable ,all bolts etc are also included.

Hi Guys, we have now got the first kit on the car. The gearknob sits around 5-10mm lower than stock, also the gaiter sits 30mm higher so does give give a much more sporty look.
We can supply the lower gaiter surround in silver or v. dark grey. The silver one will have 2 large decorative O rings around the circumference to make more of a feature,in contrast the dark grey version is designed to 'blend in' effectivley becoming part of the centre console.
Initial reaction from a driving point of view is that it just feels right ,shift is sweet and the slots massage your palm very nicely.
There are some smaller section 'O' rings for the handbrake grip now which compliment the 'O' rings on the gearknob & gaiter surround nicely. Will add some car pics tommorow.
