New GTT Intercooler Spray System +pics

Hi Guys, here is first pics of production GTT intercooler spray system. The spray nozzle pattern is a very small orifice ' wide dispersion flat fan' ,perfect for even dispersion .
Kit comprises of the mirror polished stainless steel spray assembly C/W integral mounting bracket, coloured nylon hose ,quick release coupling to connect to stock rubber hose from headlight or rear washer pump, spring loaded toggle switch, in-line fuse & wire. Price is £69+vat.It simply bolts to GTT diffuser ,looks quite impressive when you open the bonnet too.

Firstly thanks to John (of GT Tuning ) for working out how to post a big 'non thumb-nail' without it would not be possible
It was painful & took a while but he got there in the end ,which is more than I achieved!

No you just put water in the reservoir, mind you the intercooler would get a good clean!

Roland,

Can this be used with any intercooler...or just for your own GTT type ?

Cheers

Simon

I know you can get varying fan dispersion patterns. What does this use?
135º looks like it would get nice coverage.

Obe 120 degrees.
It will fit GTT or Alta as both have a platform (diffuser) onto which the spray can bolt. If you can rig up your own bracket onto which our spray would attach ,you could use with stock intercooler.

Figures wise, what kind of difference do these make? It just seems a little ott to me, not sure I like water or water vapour floating around under my bonnet, after all it has to go some where, and that some where will be backwards towards the ecu and electrics!

No prob guys.
The spray is a well proven way of drawing the heat from the intercooler. They are standard on some production cars ;Mitsubishi Evo 8 and predecessors are one example. The water evaporates ,even if not on the intercooler then on the hot engine or the hot exhaust behind it. Diffuser keeps water well away from ecu.
BTW We can supply adjustable 'normally open ' or 'normally closed' pressure switches if you like. You can set to trigger only at max boost, good except for land speed record pilots holding it on full boost for 5 mins at a time. Use a master dash switch aswell for those ocassions.
Regards Roland GTT
Fiesta dan A guesstimate from a full tank with one continuous blast of spray, about 10-15 minutes? So compared to the stock headlight washers a fair bit longer

so what stops it from freezing up in winter? Or defrosts the bottle if it is just water in the reservoir, and if water isn't coming through how long would the pump motor last for?

I didn't mean it

nice idea

two quick questions,

surely it'd be more effective on the other side of the IC tho?? just an idea

also how much of the spray covers the IC at say 70mph, unless it's fairly high pressure i'm assuming the air pressure will limit the amount of area actually sprayed??

oh and can you get diff coloured pipes?

nothing stops it freezing up or defrosts the bottle the same as yer washers, the pump will last the same amount of time it would normally last I guess unless it's under slightly more pressure but I can't see that making much diff

A couple more questions..

You say to connect to either the Headlight or rear wash pump, but Isnt the Headlight pump more powerful than the rear wash pump, (well it seems so anyway), & if so would it not give greater water thoughput & thus cooling effectiveness to always connect to this pump ??

Where do you suggest mounting the activating switch, & has it got to be held down against spring pressure when rqd, or can it be also switched to a permanent on position ??

Would it be any advantage to have this automatically activated over say 4500revs, I`m thinking about if it was wired up to the JCW filter which I believe has its extra flap to automatically open at this setting via the standard loom ??

Thanks

In da Wud

I think a point being missed here is that this has a lot of value once the car is in motion. That is doubtful.
Where it is best is between laps in the pits. or between auto-x runs. In traffic if you're looking for a street application but then you're leaning towards street racing.

This will do about nothing on the highway.

I use a garden sprayer between runs on hot days . Works well.

but screen wash stops it from freezing when its used for headlights, so if the water is frozen in the bottle and you have it set to come one at say 5000rpm, then surely if no water is coming out due to it being frozen this will burn out the pump?

Yes different colour hose (red) also available. I quite like the idea of activation above 4500 rpm with signal from the ecu. Has anyone tried using this switching to power anything?
Theres no harm in putting a bit of windscreen wash in to stop tank freezing if you want to.
But like max says its used less in winter anyway.

thanks Roland, was just wondering, as I am really enjoying the performance gains in the cold weather at the moment, and if this could give that replication come the warmer months then its a mod I am interested in
