New GTT 'Spiroslot' Brake discs-Now In +pics

Hi Guys , These are all new (stock size) GTT 'SPIROSLOT' front & rear discs. They are a direct replacement for the stock plain discs, offering improved braking and stunning looks. Initial bite is better & there is less inclination towards fade or fluid boil at the limit. Each pair of discs come complete with Kevlar compound fast road brake pads & a bottle of Dot 5.1 high boiling point brake fluid. The front kit will also be available with optional trackday/race pads (we are still undergoing tests on various pads for this option). Needless to say this 'level 2' kit will not be wheel damaging or noisy, but will offer even better braking & brake biased more to the front (good). If you do track days opt for the level 2 front setup.
We have conducted extensive research and testing to ensure this kit is the best bar none. Benchmark products for comparisons were stock (obviously) and a set of EBC grooved/dimpled discs + Greenstuff pads.We were even testing yet more pads at the Keevil traxck day last week with our big brake kit.
Incidently GTT are not new to producing performance discs. Since 1992 under the tradename 'Pro- Disk' we produced grooved discs for dozens of performance cars.
SPEC:-
-Fine 'equal size particle' cast pearlitic steel. (ie not Chinese import grade castings!)
- Runout machined to <.001" TIR, stock tolerance is <.002" Many pattern discs are machined to <.004". In essence with GTT discs there is less risk of warpage or pedal judder occuring.
-All Discs dynamically balance.
- 7 'Spiroslot' grooves per face (alternating radial position), CNC machined as a left & right handed pair. The square channel grooves expel dust, gasses & water more effectivley than 'spherical nose' machined grooves, and will also deglaze the pads properly without the risk of the slot just reintroducing the dust back under the pad. !
-The bell section of the disc (the bit in the middle you see which is not swept by the pads), is finished and cured using VHT paint. This is more durable than the 'goldy' colour zinc passsivate others use (eg ebc). And being silver looks better as it blends with the wheel colour. Our way is the same as Audi & many other prestige car makers use to keep the OEM discs looking good. The heat produced from braking further cures the VHT paint.
Prices? Your going to like them!
Stock ? 5 Front kits & 5 Rear kits in stock.
Best Regards Roland Gt Tuning

I'm interested in your testing procedures and results - are you going to run them on the same day, on the same car, on a day with no real temp fluctuations?

Will be interested to see your results - would be nice to see them up against maybe a JCW package, and another BBK as well if possible?

I think it is a worthwhile test - if I was a customer looking at upgrading my brakes, I'd want to know what is a better brake for my money - is the performance increase of a BBK worth the extra outlay?

Will you be offering them in a cryo treated version for the track junkies?

Just an informational question since I've just upgraded my brakes.

Roland,

I'm interested in getting a full kit for my MINI as I want to improve my brakes for the odd track day. How much to have the kit fitted?

Cheers,
John

They look ace and the price is excellent too!

I'll be buying a set when I need to replace my pads and discs...

Gerry

ps...Roland, slightly off topic, but i might be replacing my clutch next week and do you have suggestions for a replacement? maybe an upgraded one? vs standard - if so, do you have an idea of costs of each?

Hi Guys, fitting on the front kit is £72-50+vat, the Rear is £112-50+vat. That includes thorough cleaning of the location faces, dressing out any high spots. And checking for runout with a DTI. We also relube the sliding pins as they stick (on the rear),and check handbrake operation as the cables on one side often sieze solid
All in all a fastidious & extensive service & much cheaper than main dealer.

Isnt the dot 5.1 fluid useless without them

Hi Guys,The braided hoses make no difference on the Mini whatsoever. The stock hoses are very good, the only time you may want to change is for gravel rallying. I have tried before & after (with no other changes). The creaky spongy 'Im about to boil' effect comes in exactly the same point. Not having them ,not only saves money, but alot of 'orrible mess + pressure bleeding equipment to get the air out. They wont make it worse (good) but no benefits for any tarmac use (road, race circuit). The use of Dot 5.1 is not related to the type of hose fitted. Dot 5.1 has a higher boiling point than Dot4 so is worth using, but the difference in practice is very minimal.
Baker... Give me a chance Im still awaiting one more set of pads. Remember you want me to test them all on the same day on the car etc

Not trying to be funny mate Genuinely interested in the results. I'm running EBC's for the record. You mentioned that you'd already done some tests that showed yours to be better - just was wondering if you were keen on publishing these "interim" results.
