New Posh Mini - 007 Explorer Armrest'

Hi Guys, we are about to launch for the Mini what has always been our TT flagship interior design styling product. Our Armrest is 'straight out of a James Bond Car! ' The quality of this product has impressed so much that we have been asked to produce this item (in volume) for Bentley fitment
The entire assembly is CNC milled from aircraft spec alloy, The removable Nappa leather,(in grey or black) alloy top slides forward on S/S keyhole location plates then lifts off to reveal a solid alloy tool tray with intricately milled cutouts, housing an Oil filled compass (rotatable & removable), AAA Maglite, and Italian Nieto designer 'Retroslot' pen knife. Even the bases of the tool pockets and finished in a chequered effect fabric. The armest pivots upwards to an angle of 20 degrees 'back' from vertical. This puts it in line ( &parrellel) to the seat backs when in the 'up' position. The detail extends to the CNC turned pivot caps ; dimpled and available in either Bronze, (as in photos) or chrome finish. All alloy parts are Zincate treated, hand mirror polished, copper plated, hand polished again, Double Nickel plated then finally chromed. This gives the chrome incredible depth . -You need to see it in the flesh. -100 % no nasty plastic anywhere!
Here are some pics, (on our demo TT) - for more info check it out on our Audi TT website www.gtt.uk.com under interior styling. Theres a good screen saver image of it under the 'extra' section too.
Best Regards Roland Gt Tuning
NB. special thanks to Louis (my 12 yr old son) who played a big role in design of the fixing & location plate design of this armrest for the Mini.

Hi Paul, we will have it fitted on our Mini within next 2 weeks so will take some pics then. If all fits/works ok the 'additional production batch parts' needed can be made within 2 weeks (milling & turning & laser cutting we can do quickly) ,so all being well will be fully available in 4 weeks. We have around a dozen armrests in stock waiting

its very, very nice but way out of my price bracket for something like an armrest. if it was transferrable across others cars it would be more tempting as you could take it with you.i suppose you've no idea whether it will fit the 2007 model mini?

Well you could transfer it to your Bently, apparantly.

You always have to pay for quality, and GTT stuff is the top end of the high quality sector.

Thanks Tony TBH I just couldnt bring myself to designing /making products that I wouldnt be proud to have on my own car. Halfords do some horrible tacky plastic 'TT style dimpled ' phone holders and the like ,-I'm allergic to drastic plastic I think. Mind you Halfords Pro range tools are very good.

mmmmmm, really want one but not sure how the leather will look with my Space Grey cloth interior

Also, not too sure about having a knife in the car

Must agree with you that a Knife in the car, and the police in the UK may not be a happy combination.

Shame that their weren't other options - unfortunately can't think of any to suggest that would be useful.

Hi guys,Theres nothing illegal or iffy about keeping a folding Pen Knife with a 3" blade in your car (or even walking around with one in your pocket for that matter). Its not a dagger ,switchblade or machetti.! Even if someone stole your car they probably wouldnt even realise the lid comes off. Its designed for peeling an apple or cutting your pork pie in half not mass murder - Actually there is another version we do without the tools/tooltray.

Could you do one with a spaces for a zippo lighters? tyre pressure guages? or I-pod Nano. , Maybe just a soft rubberised storage tray . It looks fantastic but all that stuff is so impractical IMO.

How much does it all weigh ?

OK guys, there will initially be 2 versions, Standard and Explorer. There will be a third version called 'Storer' to follow late summer. This will have a rectangular storage tray in it so you can put slim phones, money, zip lighter , i-pod etc in it. As all 3 armrests are bolt together construction , you can upgrade or interchange the middle section (under the removable oval leathered top) from Standard/Explorer/Storer if you want at anytime. Prices will be the same as the Audi Version ,for a while at least. Please guys dont buy any other brand until youve at least seen this kit in the flesh.
Best Regards Roland GTT
Ricky .. Yes their pro range rachet spanners are excellent. I have all 3 sets . Fixed head ratchet, Pivot Head /Combo, and Half Moon ratchet.

Hi Guys ,here are some pics of the satin chrome version (as opposed to the bright chrome version) armrest. The first 2 pics are of the standard version which has S/S brace bars where the tool tray on the '007 Explorer' version would normally be. As you can see the leather oval top can still be removed in the same way. It locates on 4 keyhole plates ,you simply place the top in position and push backwards,it slides back 10mm and locks into place.
The Standard version can be upgraded to 'Explorer' or forthcomong 'Storer' version simply by unscrewing the 2 S/Steel caphead bolts either side and swopping over the brace bars for a storage tray. This can be done with armrest fitted to the vehicle and completed in about 3 minutes.
-Pics on the car coming in a minute

And here it is on the Mini.
Things to note are... -The cup holder is still there, and even with a tall bottle ,it does not get in the way either with the armrest 'up' or 'down'.
-The height and position is spot on ,you can comfortably rest your forearm on the armrest and your hand on the gearknob.
-You can still operate the handbrake with armrest 'down'.
-With armrest 'up', even wrestling with 'autotest -like' steering /gear changes, the armrest never gets in the way of your arm.
-Braking very hard at speed the friction loaded pivot on the armrest will not let it fall forward from the 'up' position
-In the 'up' position the armrest sits parellel ,and in line with the standard seat backs (it is lent back 20 degrees from vertical) ,so looks right & is out of the way.
Best Regards Roland GTT
