Hi Guys been a very long day , we left at 6am this morning and have just got through the door.
We took a customers GTT300+ for final mapping and power run. Also spent a few hours talking with Jamie the superchips MD about Rolling Roads /wheel horsepower/corrected power & measuring the losses. They have a 550bhp MAHA LPS3000 rolling road.
There were 2 problems encountered firstly their fan is very weedy, (and aimed too high for our front mount) the second was we had to use 6th gear (yes SIXTH) gear to stop the wheels spinning on the rollers, even after 15 or 20 attempts even fith gear was hopeless. In the end I let the tyres down to 20 psi and then the ultra stick (and very hot) R888's gripped most of the time if you feathered the throttle .
On a side note I can now 101% confirm that a wheels horsepower figure is absolutly totally & completly meaningingless (even more so than I thought last week). If the guys over the pond want to harp on about WHP we can carry this on on another thread. Also dont confuse corrected power with 'WHP with measured losses added on'......its a .completly different thing.
Also single roller RR's (dynojet) with give a noticably higher WHP figure than the twin roller type we have over here..
Oh power (& torque), you'll have to wait until tommorow.....What do you think?
Boost was 21psi BTW, no fudging, no icepacks on intercoolers (yes you!), no race fuel, (Tesco 99), no high tyre pressures.......I did try that but much toooo much power for that one.
