Offline | 5 New Pulleys + More from GT Tuning -Now with pics.(post #10) Hi Guys, We have just launched ( or in the case of two, soon to launch) a complete range of MCS pullys and one other interesting associated product. For now here is a list, though I will put up some pics and more info as we go along. 1) GTT Supercharger Pullys (16%,17% 18% &19% ) 2)GTT Idler Pulley (stock size or +6mm size) 3)GTT Comp Idler Pulley (deeper housing +two separate ball races ) -Available mid Feb 4)GTT Tensioner Pulley - Available mid Feb 5)GTT Crank Pulley (2 piece ,6 spoke, hard anodised L168 alloy, s/steel location boss, available as stock diameter or + 4.5mm) 6) GTT Tensioner Limit Stop. ( prevents overtravel when belt snaps which sends the tensioner damper eye straight into the crank pulley/harmonic damper wrecking it in the process) Regards Roland GT Tuning..... the new forum friendly sponsor ps Mini 2 gets everything GTT first! Offline | No problem Henry, we'll paint it black then kick it round the car park a bit to give it a 'BMW used look'. A bit like buying stone wash jeans with holes already in the knees I suppose. Regards Roland |

Offline | cheers Andy. Ok here is some blurb off the cuff on a couple of the products:- GTT TENSIONER STOP This simple product ensures that in the event your drive belt should snap (which is bad enough on its own), the tensioner assembly travel is limited preventing it slamming into the crank pulley,or harmonic damper/balancer as the OE part is called. If this happens the eye of the mini shock absorber on the tensioner assembly hits and then grinds away the pully. If this happens you will need a new crank pully for sure ,not cheap! The OE tensioner has a puny excuse for a stop that simply breaks off under the force of the belt snapping,or as was the case with our car just missing a gear! Fittment is very straight forward ,and makes sense to fit at the same time as any work in the pully area. In fact if we're doing the pullys we dont charge anything for the labour The parts cost £24+vat. GTT COMPETITION CRANK PULLY'S These are manufactured in L168 aerospace aluminium,to a strong 6 spoke design, and include some special features: The centre boss is made in steel ,this is because aluminium should not be used as an interference fit over steel (ie the crank nose). The main reasons being different rates of expansion, and risk of 'picking up' where the alloy effectively welds itself to the steel during removal. With our system the boss is heated ,and fitted to the crank nose. The alloy pully wheel is a sliding fit over the boss and is secured using 6 bolts. The pully is also hard anodised, although only 50 microns thick is actually harder than steel coupled to this its anti corrosion properties are excellent. This should not be confused with clear or colour anodising which does not share these properties. What does the pully achieve? It achieves reduced rotational mass (stock=7LB,GTT=1LB) resulting in faster engine spin up and improved performance. As a bonus we also offer this item in both stock diameter & +4.5mm. The latter is approx the equivalent of 'minus another 3%' on your Supercharger pulley therefore is particularly useful to people with either -15% pulleys or JCW (-14%) pullys who would like a little more boost at the same time. The large version crank pully will also spin the aircon & alternator pullys a little faster, we do not see that as a problem. Initially this item is sold as a competition item , and fitted only. We are fully aware of the damper v no damper discusions which TBF have merit. After min 20,000miles we plan to strip and inspect the crank journals, at which point we hope to offer this product for road use. TBH I am confident of no long term wear issues, as we have attemped to murder the crank on other 'no damper' engines and not suceeded Price £129+vat Phew! Regards Roland Gt Tuning |

Offline | You heat the centre first ,it then slides on. To remove you use a GTT puller ring . I dont recommend applying a torch to it while on the car,I think you could damage the cranks rubber seal or oil pump. To remove the pulley itself you can just undo the 6 bolts and it slides off. If you used loctite during fitting (to spread the load across the full depth of the wheel),you just screw in an M16 Fine bolt to the thread in the wheel, and it winds off. Our SC pullys are all steel 'heat to fit' interference fit ( like OE). Again to remove without damage we use a special GTT puller ring, these are not intended for DIY fit though if you want one DIY we could supply. Cost ? Ill let you know. Regards Roland GT Tuning |

| MINI2 Regular | Roland - some very exciting products!! How does the tensioner stop install? Would I have to remove the tensioner? How much do you charge for the Bypass Valve operation optimisation? Is it worth having this done if you have no yo-yo effect after a BBR220 conversion? Sorry about all the questions - I'm so excited (sad, I know!!) Thanks |

Offline | Hi Stu, the GTT bypass mod is aimed more at increasing power than 'anti- yoyo' so is worth doing. The GTT tensioner limit stop does not require removal of tensioner to fit. Also no special tools required. Best Regards Roland GT Tuning |

Offline | Hi Roland, with the tensioner overtravel limit stop, is it just the piece with GT TUNING sticker which is put in place of the original piece or is there further mods to the spring as well? Is there still enough travel left to take the normal belt thrashing without it bottoming out? Thanks John. |

Offline | Top secret! The travel allows it to go back to the same position as stock allows ,and forward to the point where the little twisted 'T' is (before it breaks off that is!)regards Roland Gt Tuning ![]() |
