We just bought a new (to us) 2004 Mini Cooper S JCW, and we're itching to connect with other Mini enthusiasts. We're on the big island of Hawaii. Anyone else here? Also, would love to start autocrossing again. Any of that on the Big Island?

And, Yes, there is a Chapter of the SCCA on the Big Island. We will be holding an event Nov 27 at the Hilo track. For info give me a call, or email me. It is going to be a good event to get back into autocrossing, with a school session in the morning and a Solo in the afternoon.

Aloha all you Hawaii MINI owners.

I just returned from Kauai and Maui and saw at least 6 or 7 different MINIs on each island. A mix of MCs and MCSs, even a MCC.

I talked to one owner of a CR/W MCS on Maui. Great to see the enthusiasm for the MINI is alive and well in paradise.

The roads scream Mini or MINI. Just wish there was less traffic. Speed is pretty much determined by sight lines and pavement surfaces. The Dragon has nothing over some of the roads on Maui and Kauai. Miles and miles of connected turns, quick transitions right and left, switchback after switchback, totally blind corners with vertical walls on one side and shear cliffs on the other (without any guard rails to spoil the views), ups and downs like a rollercoaster. Not to mention the torturous road to the summit of Haliakala at 10,023 feet (3037m), with near perfect pavement.

Just be careful of the open grazing and cattle gurads across the roads. Ohh yeah, and the Hawaiian mud on the roads.

Had a great time. Would have liked to spend some more time exploring the limits along the Hawaiian roads. Had some visions of World Rally type action ............ Hmmmmmm!

OK my DS/DS and I have been here almost 6 months and I haven't gotten around to posting to this thread yet. If you get flash or wave from an '04 S, it may just be me. BTW, do I have the only heated seats in Hawaii? I had no idea I would be moving here when I bought the car.

no heated seat usage in the last year. Doesn't get much below 78 at night (after 82 in the day).

Aloha everyone. Yes, there's a MINI club out here on Oahu, and even one on Maui. Our club, Hawaii Mini Motoring Club, is actually planning a MINI cruise on Maui later this summer. We wanted to have it in June, but instead we're having a cruise to Kualoa Regional Park tomorrow because of cruise delays. For the Maui cruise, we'll be taking our MINIs on the new Superferry to Maui. There's a place here on the island to rent new MINIs, so if you'd like to join us, let us know! We'd love to have you along.
