Hong Kong Re: Budget Mini

I am planning to buy a R56 Cooper, but my budget is very tight. How should I spend my HK$250k?

My wish list is as follows.
Mini Cooper (Standard) - $202K + lic. fee and insurance.
16"-17" wheel + run-flat tires - within $10k (please advise some good suggestion, where can I trade in the original 15" with tires)
Roof spoiler (how much does it cost for after market?)
Additional head light (how much does it cost for after market?)
Aerodynamic package/body kit (Don't know if my budget could still afford it.)

1. Areo kit you HKD19000.
2. 17 rim and a runfalt will cost you aound HKD 5000 for 2 nd hand, but you must consider the start up. It is really heavy for acooper to have 17 rim and runfalt. It will take more power to roll up.
3. Roof spoiler will cost you around HKD 3000.
4. Xeon light is cost around HKD 4000, BUT, for some case, there are some confit with the ECU and the aftermarket Xeon light. You have to try your luck. I would suggets you buy directly form MINIHK since the frist start. It is much safe.

In fact, have you consider to 2 nd Mini, for 250k, you can find some low mile and good condition, and you save alot for aftermarket kit. Mini is mostly sencon car to most people, mile would not be too high. Only my suggestion good motoring.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I had ended up ordered a R56 cooper in chili red with white roof plus a few options as below for HK$220,777.80+insurance.
- cloth/leather seat
- lights package
- multi-function 3-spoke steering wheel
- on broad computer
- sport suspension
- rear spoiler
- 16" 5 star blaster with run-flat
- bonnet stripes

Hope it doesn't look so bad for my small budget.

Hi, I am planning to order the R56 next month when I moved back to HK. Can anyone tell me how long is the wait and shed some light on the annual insurance cost (for comprehensive insurance)? I owned a R50 in Australia and have maximum no claim bonus (65%) for a few years and wonder how much does the insurance costs in HK. Driver profile: age below 30, female, have been driving for more than 8 years , good driving record. And what do I need to bring with me? Appreciate any help!

chrome line interior

If budget allows, chrome line interior would be nice because the standard grey-colored plastic makes the interior looking cheap.

Haven't seen the 5 star blaster wheels but most people are getting the 16" bridge spoke wheels.

Sport suspension is great for handling as honestjohn (UK) points out how well it matches with the 16" wheels, however, I would rather spend the money on the Xenon lights as the base Cooper is not meant for driving fast anyway. Xenon lights on the mini upped the look to premium while the regular lights looks.... pedestrian.

Cloth leather seats is a ripped-off b/c there is so little leather comparing to the previous MINI cooper cloth/leather option. If you can get leatherette, go for it and use the money for panoramic sunroof instead. Otherwise, I would pay a little more for the full beige leather.

bonnet stripes option is a must to bring out the curves of the bonnet since the new one is more rounded.

I hope it's not too late to change if you decided to do so.
