Offline | According to manual, 145Km and 4500rpm is the limit, and no floor gas (off cause, no sudden floor gas either) for the first 2000Km. but I did try floor gas when it runs 400Km JCW Kit. KW2, Tarox Brake, more............ |

Offline | this is what I heard from my BM mechanic, its somewhat different from others, but i hv done 1400 km and my engine is v smooth and responsive... here: first 1000 km: below 4k rpm, varied speed, use all gears constantly, can floor the gas towards the end of the 1000 km. 1000-2000 km: can rev to 5000 rpm, floor it occasionally, varied speeds, use all gears, dont drive it 100%. 2000+ km- u HAVE to floor it and drive really hard (not all the time of course!), but remember to rest the engine for around 5 mins b4 u turn off the engine. so drive around the block slowly and shift earlier. apparently the car has some kind of "driver memory", if u drive like a grandma during the break-in period, the car will eventually turn out to be slower/less responsive than cars thats been driven hard...??!! also, i think driving hard after 2000 km allows the engine to settle to its right compression ratio for a more responsive engine. but as they always say, the faster the engine, the shorter the life! its up to u had some fun with my firends' new Clio 172 Sport (run-in already) tonite in some twisties, and he cannot get out of my sight! though in the straights his car is definitely faster. my tyres were squealing like anything...... and brakes are suffering... maybe time for some better pads. has anyone got experience with EBC pads (green stuff)??? |
