Dinlo,

Are you going to pick up a pair? wouldn't mine hearing about the results. Installed the Magnecor last night - yes smoother - noticable change on the reaction of the gas pedal - feels the throttle is a bit more solid. Just waiting to change the spark plugs...

MCS owners - Has anyone noticed that there's a slight backfire noise when you rev the engine 3-4000 rpm in netural? Or is it just me ????

And yes I felt it as soon as drove the car.

If I knew it would make that much of difference, would have installed it the same day I got the car.

For those without one - defintely a very good small investment!!.

Are you referring to the Typhoon air filter or the drop in one to replace the original? I just put in the KL&N to replace my original air filter. I will evaluate pereformance changes and report here.

Which part number for the Denso Iridium spark plugs? I drive the MC.

The driver handbook listed down the degree for the spark plug. If I remember it right, it is 6 degreee. But pls. verify it from the handbook. My little experience is the K&N filter, spark plugs and spark plug cables are very good investment for the car. Doesn't cost much but result is quite noticeable. And BMW will never give you a hardtime on those too. As for exhaust, very positive result but also not cheap.

Sorry for the late reply, just came back form a camping trip. I think hold on for the wire for now, but I'm getting Alta pulley, alta intrake and the ECU upgrade on July 16.

Do you mean the K&N drop in filter or the more expensive K&N Typhoon Intake System? Someone mentioned that it takes only 10 minutes to install, so I think that person is referring to the drop in filter, which I also installed. I could not notice any power increase, but I got 1-2 mpg more, in combination with an oil change.

I also just ordered a K&N drop-in from AJ-USA (www.ajusa.com). $36 for the filter and $9 for the care kit. I think that's a good price. Free shipping too!

That's a great price, because most places were charging $50+ for the air filter. I got mine from www.northern autoparts.com in Sioux City, IA. and paid $35.99 and $8.99 for the cleaning kit. It pays to shop via the internet.

Although the instructions which came with the K&N filter says that you can go 50,000 miles between cleaning and washing the filter, I'll probably do it on a yearly basis or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Can someone confirm the part number again (33-2270?) for the drop in filter for the Cooper S. I have seen conflicting info online (the non S takes a different filter maybe?). Thanks.

Yup - But I also toke the intercooler cover off as it was much easier to take the filter cover off.

Also you need to check if you have the right screw driver head. Don't know the name - but If you want you can borrow mine.

Arer you referring to the timing? The spark plug needs to be gapped to a certain tolerance. Because of the very fine electrode, you are supposed to tap the metal grounding part little by little to get the gap distance, otherwise improper use of the gap tool could damage the fine electrode. Also the Denso plugs in the States arer quite expensive $59 for a set of 4.

Dinlo, check out the Magnecor spark plug wirers which are available from Moss-MINI. They cost US$59.95 for a set of 4. The Nology should be about the same price.
