Angry Sunday Driver !

I almost get kill last night, cause I was running with a MC in Tuen Mun highway back to Kowloon side. When I strat enter the ram of the birdge, there was a Benz SLk just cut to my line at very slow speed, and worse at all he did not look back to the mirror, I was running about a 100Km, but I have to make dead stop. When I kick him in high beam, he just stop the car so the MC and Me have to take over it by the slow line. Seems like he don't know he slao kill my family and me. After that , he just follow me at high speed for 5 minutes. He is total nuts !!!! It was luck there was no car coming after us, if not i'll be on newspaper today !

I'm glad you and your Family are O.K.

Poor driving skills are one thing. But Stopping in on a highway is plain stupid. The SLK was lucky that a Trailer Truck wasn't following behind, If not they would be on the news.

Funny thing was another stupid accident almost happened in front of me.

I was in Stanely yesterday. I parked my car on a side street and before i pulled out to the main road I check for other vehicles. I saw a Van about 500 ft heading towards my direction. I pulled out on to the single land road, and in front of me was a car making a U turn. I stopped and pressed the Hazard light. The Van instead of stopping decided to overtake me on the opposite lane. I was honking like crazy to stop the car making the U turn. Luckily the Car stopped and the van servered pass them. The worst part was the Van had to slow down and stop anyways as there was a STOP SIGN 50 FT ahead of us. I don't understand these people.

The car was a Daihastu Move with a 2 adults and 2 childern. The Van was a Nissian Loaded with Teenagers going to beach.

Though we were not in danger I felt it was too close of a call.

If I manufactured cars and sold them in HK I would make mirrors and indicators an optional extra, most people don't seem to use them so they might aswell save the money for accident repairs.
Down most hightways now, we have the blue signs in the central reservation telling people to keep left unless overtaking! Does anyone pay attention? Well yes, on very very rare occasions! Of course the Police are their to enforce it!!!................oh no, sorry they were hidden behind a barrier or a hedge in a low risk area with a radar gun trying to get your speed!
I really do feel sorry for HK people who do go out on the road and use their sense, because the people who don't use their sense don't care who they involve in an accident they might create.
Up to now, all the Mini drivers I've seen in HK have been plodding along carefully. A good attitude to drive with is to treat every other driver like they are an idiot, that way you will always be on the defensive.
Take care.

Uncle Poon,

That SLK is in Black Color? The reason why I ask this question. Around half years ago when I drave my previous car ( Audi TT ) in Freeway 3 from Sham Tseng to Kowloon. I drave very fast around 130KM due to I got late. Have one Black SLK kept the same speed push me. When we arrived City Golf the traffic light, My musclar friend go down to ask him "What you want". At that monent he was very affraid haven't open the window and esacpe.

For those tailgaters, I normally let them pass. It does not worth if he hits your rear accidentally. For car accidents, no matter who is right or wrong, both parties loss in a way. At least your car will not have a "crash free" record even you are right.

For those Sunday Driver, I think they are amazing samples of our driving test system. They can stopped suddenly right in the middle of the road because they saw a friend or something. They can also make a right turn signal while turning left. My advice?? Avoid them. You live dangerously drving (or walking) near them.

Unfortunately there are just all sorts of crazy or incompetent drivers on the road in Hong Kong. And a lot of times the inexperienced weekenders are diving under-speed in the fast lane and came along the impatient crazy ones or the vans, then accidents happen.
Drive safely and enjoy the Mini! God bless you all!

adampoon - did you take down his plate number? This is the first thing I do if i can sense some trouble on the road. Secondly, I never run when there is anyone else in the car, its not fair to them to take a risk.

I should say I run but not race with a MC, cause I do know my family still in car. Honestly, I'm not racer anymore, too old for me. But in fact, I always run in the fast line when I was in Canada.

I will take the number for sure next time, but the Benz is so close I did not see his plate number, In fact, he still stop in the middle of road when I by him. After that, I was hardly see the plate when he chasing at my back, Anyway, I would keep a digital camera in my car. just in case

Hi guys,

I have another experience that a Benz C?(the most powerful C-Class, as powerful as BMW M3) disturbed me after i had met it inside Shing Mun Tunnel. It kept very close on my MCS's back after passing through the tunnel to Tai Po. By passing the Race Course, i took the Tai Po Road to my distination, it kept following me and took over me, then it lowerred down its speed and let me take over it again. Afterwards, it kept following me closely again till i turned right to a little path for approaching my distination. In fact, I don't mind keeping closely by it, i only mind that its driver had very bad driving manner for using a so powerful car to having fun with a less powerful one, just like the giant and the little boy. If he drove a car with the same power, i might have to keep running along the whole Tai Po Road from Sha Tin to Tai Po.

Btw, what do u think the result if i kept running with it in accordance with the road condition that day.

Cheers,
Herman
