Offline | Should I wait for the July MCS production I ordered my MCS in Feb, waited 3 months already and the salesman told me mine would arrive in couple weeks. However, I heard that there will be a facelift for MCS and even the current supercharged engine will be replaced by a bigger engine. Is that true. Does anyone know what are the new/different stuffs in the facelift version. Do you think it's worth talking to BMW and get the facelift version. I think it might be too late, but it never hurt trying if it's worth the hassle. Can anyone give me some advise. Thanks. |

Offline | Hi donkey, Welcome to the MINI2 forums. The upgrades to model year '05 are well documented throughout the website. There is some information in the 'News' section which you may find helpful: http://www.mini2.com/news/news229.html If it is at all possible, I would highly suggest to wait for the facelifted MCS. However, as far as I know, it would be very difficult to push back an order with the BMW/MINI salesmen here since they almost always want to fill up the more current allocations as soon as possible so to close the transaction and pocket their commission. (As for how I know, one of our ex-MINI2 members is looking to get back into MINI ownership and underwent a similar experience only to be denied by the salesmen on a post-facelift MCS.) It maybe difficult to find a responsive salesmen who'd be kind enough to help with an order postponement. Nonetheless, it's definitely worth a try to ask and see, good luck with the inquiry. Offline | Thanks. I talked to the BMW salesman. He said I could change to July production but, the price will be 36 - 37K higher and the soonest delivery date is Sept. On one hand, it seems wise to get the latest version. On the other hand, I'm not sure whether it's worth the 36-37K additional cost and 4 more months of waiting. I really can't make up my mind. If you were me, what would be your decision. Thanks. |

Offline | Ha ! I know that the only change is the head & tail lighting and with +7ps HP , also some minor interior change. It is worth for 30K or not is very depends. If money is not concern, I'll certainly wait, but this is not the case for me. So, I just order the May production and expect to get the MCS at July!!!! The 30K can almost get you the MCS Works kit, which bring you over 200ps. And may be you can just pay another 5-8K for the new head light in the future! Just my 2 cents! |

| Mini2 Fan | Hi Donkey, I think it's only the method used by the salesman to cease your intention of changing the new model. I don't believe the price of new MCS can be increased 36/7K higher in view of the strong US currency coming and the trendy of Mini becomes weaker than b4. Also, it's lesser competed for the Mini if the selling price is marked up highly. Maybe u return your present order to your salesman with some surcharges for reselling to the others and make the new order for the new model, s/he would like to do so. In fact, the new Mini has been launching for more than 2 years. Btw, the BMW salesmen always treat it as pork bones and don't spend lots of times on selling. Offline | I cannot say whether the salesman was trying to scare you from changing your order or not, but I would find it a bit hard to believe an increase of over 14% in pricing! Adam Alfa 147 GTA Mini Cooper |

Offline | Thanks you all for your advise. I double confirmed with the salesman. He said the price increase for July production is firm. The exact new price is to be confirmed but the max increase is 13% (i.e. 31K). Also, the new spec was not officially released (at by BMW to their salesmen). So, if I reschedule my production, I'll be paying anything up to 31K more, plus there is no guarantee of the new spec. With this newly confirmed info, what do you think. |

| Mini-Hugo | I have the same doubt as you before about postponing my order from May04 to Jul04.. My salesman told me the same thing as u. After all, with such price increase / time to wait ...i have already drop the idea of changing the order and rather use the $$ to get JCW after 6months. Most importantly, my MCS will arrive in mid Jun04 and i can drive it during the SUMMER!! |

| Mini2 Fan | Let see the selling strategics of those car agents for the past ten years, I haven't found out any less facelifted models increasing their prices sharply. On the contrary, they like to sell the upgraded models as the same prices b4 or lower than b4 likely, esp BMW and Benz. Thus, I think no need to care about the new price. Honestly, I don't believe the price of Mini can be 15% markup. Also, my experience granted is that the BMW salemen know nothing about the spec of their cars sold, esp new models. Thus, just get rid of the scare of the price increased sharply. My conclusion is that they trick u only. Are u willing to spend $280K on purchasing a brand new MCS??? I ain't, unless it's a convertible!!! Herman Last edited by hermanszeto : May 19th, 2004 at 03:15 AM. |

Offline | Convertible ?! don't expect it will be around 280K, for the sales of BMW is growing. Just like the X3 it is more than a X5 with full option. Adam JCW Kit. KW2, Tarox Brake, more............ |

Offline | Been really busy lately - and just read this thread.... I notice that increase of 30K+ for a regular MC . Am I reading this correctly. By the way I've seen a EB/W JCW MCS today... Not sure if they have released the new rear lights yet, but this one had a pair that looked awesome. Cheers, Cliff Last edited by cliffywong : May 16th, 2004 at 05:43 PM. |

| Mini2 Fan | Hi Donkey, Hope this helps, just click to read: http://www.imagestation.com/mypictur...&id=4171370068 The reporter claimed that the pricing of the new MCS convertible was around $260. Dunno it's true or not, seems the pricing of the new MC convertible is reasonable. Cheers, Herman Last edited by hermanszeto : May 18th, 2004 at 03:32 AM. |

Offline | Thanks. The price does seem reasonable. Anyway, I've decided to take delivery of my May production MCS 'cause I agree with the general comments here that I can save the additional cost for upgrade/modification, and the additional 3 months of waiting seems long. The salesman told me today that my car should be ready for delivery next week. Wow, I can't wait to see my new MCS next week, and hope I can join the Mini parade some time soon. BTW, I'd like to thank you for all the valuable advise you guys have provided me. |
