Offline | Hi all, May I know what is your average fuel consumption? Mine is 2004 MCS and around 6km/L, is it normal? Thanks. ![]() |

Offline | My 04 MCS that I picked up last Tue with no modification is also being run in at the moment. My average consumption is approximately 8.5 km/l with both city and highway driving with A/C running. But I was driving what I thought to be pretty conservatively at generally 3000 rpm with bursts of 3500-4000 rpm for overtaking. I am going to up the general rpm limit to 4000-4500 this week (600 km) and see if the consumption will differ. |

| Mini2 Fan | I ve been riding my MCS w/o any modifications for 2 years. The average FC for city with A/C is 340-380 km per tank(pt, around 50 litre) and the average FC for highway with A/C is 450-500 km pt. The average for both with A/C is 360-400 km pt. Normally, car for 2. I suggest u not to keep the rpm 2 high. My driving habit is keeping around 2800 rpm in gear 6th on highway. Honestly, I seldom ride my babe over 4000 rpm. If u r still during run-in period, don't ride over 3000 rpm until u ve reached the mileage 3000 km with the engine oil changed. Herman Last edited by hermanszeto : Jul 20th, 2004 at 06:50 AM. |

Offline | Thanks guys! Actually, I'm also in the run-in period and never drive up over 3500rpm, and regularly at around 2500rpm. My FC was based on 2 people, A/C on, urban driving 90% of the time, would this explain why the FC is so heavy? Thanks again for all your advices. Henry ![]() |

Offline | Hi Henry, I think you should contact BMW servicing to seek for their advice, and maybe get them to check the air fuel ratio settings on your car. Road: 2002 MCS with KW V2 and other bolt-ons Track: Lotus Elise race car |

Offline | I feel the car lacks thrust and the engine seems to be lugging when driving at a constant 2500 rpm in the city. So maybe if you increase the regular rpm to closer to 3000 the engine will be more efficient and as a result your FC may improve. Simon |

| Mini2 Fan | Totally. As MCS is a mini car with a powerful engine. During the urban driving, the FC should be higher if u keep riding in gear between 2nd and 4th. Recommending u to use a higher gear frequently such as gear 5th, better gear 6th when the road condition is smooth even in the urban. Herman Last edited by hermanszeto : Jul 21st, 2004 at 05:02 AM. |

Offline | Dear all, Thanks for all your advices. I will try to keep the rev at ~3000rpm regularly and let it run for a few more weeks, if the situation improves, I know then it's my own problem; otherwise, I may seek help from BMW. Thanks, Henry ![]() |
