SAT NAV stopped working!

I've got a 2004 sat nav system which has been happily working with a TMC enabled DVD+R (copy) of the 2004-2 DVD.
Suddenly it won't read the DVD+R nor will it read another 2 copies.
It WILL read the original CD which, of course does not do TMC.
Any theories as to the problem/remedy?
I know CD's and DVD's use a different laser so theoretically one could be broken/dirty. Can it be cleaned?

So should I :
1 Go to my dealer and ask them to fix it-admitting I've been using a copy
2 Buy the 2005-2 DVD and if it doesn't work ask them to sort it
3 Give up and just use the CD

Any suggestions-Please

Weather has been funny here today - rain and cold then very hot and humid. Might be worth trying again tomorrow. Make sure the disks are in the car for an hour or two before you put them in or you may get even more condensation on the disk as it cools to the cars temp.

Do you know anybody local with the original DVD? That way you could try theirs and if it still doesn't work go to your dealer.

interesting as the CD work but the DVD's don't; I would opt for buying the soon to be released 2006/01 DVD anyway. (you will have many roads updated)

very "Works".

Yes when the 2006-1 DVD was released was my next question-obviously it's worth waiting for this. I miss TMC though (M1 was closed last week which stuffed local traffic-if I'd known I would have avoided the affected roads)

Is there an offical site for the Mini nav map DVD's? There must be some way of finding when it is released...

My ever helpful dealer claimed that the 2006-1 DVD doesn't come out until Feb/Mar but that they wouldn't release it until the 2005-2 discs had all been sold.
Still I'm taking the car in with the story that I wanted to see wht the DVD would do so I borrowed an official disc from a 7 series owner but it didn't seem to work and can they check it!
Still a disc which showed the M6 toll road would be useful.

Success!
After some confused discussion
"your car only takes CD's" etc
My dealer changed my DVD unit and updated the firmware
DVD's now work again

glad everything works again. btw tell your dealer that the 2006/01 DVD are available (as I have one).

DVD for the latest Bimmer series are NOT compatible with your Mini's )only old 3, 5 and X5 series).

Where do you think one would find an iso of 2006-1 for trial purposes? I have been told it should include full postcode search facility for the UK but would like to confirm this before purchasing
