Offline | Mobile Phone / Sat Nav Ok, i know this has been talked to death recently...sat nav i mean, but i was wandering if many of you use your mobile phone as the sat nav unit with Tomtom or route 66. Basically 12 months have passed and its time to update my Samsung D500, and i've been racking shops for a phone that does sat nav, and keep hearing different thing. I know that the Orange SPV 600, and Nokia N70 both run the software, buy ive also heard that some sony ericsson (K750i) might run similar or the same software?Has anyone managed to do this with the Sony's as its my prefered phone? or do you have any suggestions on what to get? Maybe i should change to a 18month contract so i dont have to make these decisions so often!! Cheers Baggs |

Offline | I use TomTom Mobile on my Nokia 6680 in my other car and it is great. Works really well and looks good. I would recommend Tom Tom to anybody. As for the phone I don't think it makes much difference provided it is compatible - which you can find out from the Tom Tom site. And remember when you are upgrading that, if you are a reasonably high user (ie bills around £40 per month) that they will do almost anything to keep you. So see what you can get phone and contract-wise on another operator and, if it is cheaper, tell them to match it or you'll cancel your contract. I do this every time I upgrade and have never had to pay more than £30 for a top of the range phone! Got My MINI! 2006 MINI Cooper |

Offline | Cheers for your help chaps, i think Tomtom is the way to go, ive had a look at their site and what phones were compatible. Ive seen a few deals about the last couple of days to haggle with O2 about, though i expect to get a top range phone free and discount on the line rental, last year i got the 12 months half price and the free phone! |

| Tinkering In The Garage | Has to tom tom nav 5 on any phone. I'm used to pocket pc based phones also useful due to the screen size being larger than your average phone. I would steer clear of the larger ones as you look like your holding a slice of toast to your ear when on the phone. i use a qtek S100/Imate Jam/ Tmobile MDA compact (all the same phone under different names) its about the size of a pack of cards and is pure brilliance for satnav. |
