| Charity Hero | Yo dudes, As Paul said there was a bit of fun installing the kit, but now it's in, the car feels right!! I started out with just a tape wave kit, with an ipod FM kit, then i got the ice link the sound quality was better but no guts at all. I was lusting after the use of CD's im lazy and when i wake up i can't often be bothered to sort out my ipod, so being able to grab a cd and shove it in is great. The sound is awsome and you can push the standard stock speakers quite far Even now, i quite fancy putting a nice big sub in the back My particular fave, is the ipod, it is sooo easy to use and the display is clear and i can use the MFSW!!! My only gripe is all the bloody cables, i have ended up with the ipod block and cables bound with duck tape and stuck under the drivers side dash!! 9/10 Lewis do dod do do do, im lovin it |

Offline | I know you said you want Alpine or Clarion, but the tastiest thing in head units I have seen, well basically ever, is the Panasonic CQ-TX5500D. It would take som installing though!!! Here is a link http://www.uncrate.com/men/gear/car-...reo-000697.php |

Offline | Pics please. Best thing to do with cables is pull down the drivers knee bolster Look up above the drivers radio pillar you will see a double metal bracket - cable tie you wires to that ![]() |

Offline | I have been looking to upgrade my Alpine headunit again. I current have a 7998 but want to add ipod capability, bluetooth and change from xm to sirius sat. So I am looking at the following 2 headunits DVA 9965 http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...model=DVA-9965 DVA 9861 http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...model=DVA-9861 I am leaning towards the DVA9965 because it does not have an internal amplfier so in theory it will have a better sound quality and the amber buttons match the Mini's dash. Current 7998 ![]() Motoring on |

| "I'm kind of a big deal" | I like Sonys thinking on this head unit. The fascia can be plugged directly into your PC and you can store 1GB of music on it, thats about 250 songs or 25 albums. Genius! http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowArtic...site=odw_en_GB Its available now, i've seen one on an auction site (get told off for mentioning it) for £200, i think it'll be £250-300 in the shops tho. Such a simple idea! |

Offline | I don't know how it compares to Alpine units, but I am looking at the Kenwood KDC-X890 headunit- it is Sirius, Ipod, Bluetooth and HD radio ready, and on top of that, you can adjust the color of the buttons to orange. |

Offline | If you have a quiet car I'd buy something from the Alpine range they are always well engineered and concentrate on sound quality. The Mini may be more refined than other small cars but it still isn't that good for hi-fi. So also consider a HU that adapts the sound to the car. I have a Blaupunkt Bremen but Pioneer do an equivalent. What these units do is play a frequency sweep and listen to the results via a microphone. This results in an equaliser being set to bring normalise the sound. In my previous car the M3 the result was subtle so I may have been better off with an Alpine. However in the Mini it makes quite a difference. The Bremen also does the usual mp3 playback and there is an iPod adapter. You may prefer to go the Alpine/professional RTA route but there isn't a lot of room in a Mini for a separate equaliser. ![]() Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs |
