Offline | I get my brand new Mini Cooper on friday and have numerous questions to ask regarding audio.I currently own (from my old car): Focal Polyglass V2 6.5 components Infinity Kappa 6*9s Powered by JL Audio e4300 4 channel amp JL Audio 10" W3V2 sub Powered by Alpine V12 MRD-M300 Amp All controlled by Alpine CDA 7893R Headunit I am looking to maintain as much of the boot space as possible. Well basically my questions are: 1. Will the 6.5 Focals fit in the doorwells easily or will the doors have to be modified in any way. If they are would i be better buying some new Focal K2s or some Rainbow or Bostons (Open to other suggestions) 2. Will the headunit easily fit where the stock unit is? 3. I know there are 6*9s positions in the back. Should i keep my 6*9s and W3V2 or ditch both and go for two 8" subs in the 6*9s position? If am to do this, will they fit there easily or require mods? Any sub suggestions? 4. I will possibly need new amps or can i get away with the amps i've got? I have about £1000 GBP to spend. Suggestions and help would be appreciated Thanks |

Offline | The standard Mini front speaker comes in it's own adaptor, they don't separate, so 5.25" components or 6.5" components need an adaptor i.e. are equally easy to fit. You can buy these from sponsor newministuff or make them yourself out of wood. So you may as well keep what you have got, I used sealant to get my Polyglass V2 tweeters to stay in place. You can screw the crossover to the door, look at the diy guide at newministuff http://www.newministuff.com/new/inde...ion=13&diyid=1 The 6x9's will drop in the rear positions with a little help, I had to enlarge the hole slightly. If you can seal the cavity behind them with expandable foam. To fit 8" subs in their place involves metal cutting and a small box, I think the only person to have done this got the pros to do it. Expensive I imagine. The amps you have are probably too big to fit in the Mini without giving up boot space. ![]() Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs |

| MINI2 Regular | Sell the items on ebay and buy DPSM! Then you have a great system with no fitting issues and maximum boot space with an amazing system. If not Mikey does know his stuff! The are loads of adapters and things to fit headunit, speakers, subs etc etc. |

Offline | Ok being a newb . What on eartH is DPSM???If its something like the Harman/Kardon i wouldn't be interested. Had a listen to that in my dealers for about an hour. Its an ok system but not what i'm used to in terms of quality or sound reproduction. |

| MINI2 Regular | The DPSM is hugely better than the HK in terms of quality and volume and power etc. Check out some of my DPSM reviews and it should hopefully give you a good idea. Depending on where you are based if your not too far from me (North London) your welcome to come and have a listen. |

Offline | It would have to be because HK can easily be bettered by simply fitting Infinity 693.7s in the back and .7 comps in the front. I don't think the DSPM will come close to what viperfire is looking for. |

| MINI2 Sex God & etc...... | Cheeky get!! H/K is very good at what its designed to do and in it's class is a top system. But I know what you might mean, it needs to be louder.... this is one thing that I find annoying. That DPSM is the Mini Sound Modual. It is supposed to be very good. I would try and have a listen to it if I was you... never heard it myself. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Here is the standard sub solution. This is my JL 10W6 in a box, doesn't take up much room and the JL is designed to work well in a small box. Can be easily removed for more space when required. Great sound. Now the next link is the nicest solution to a good sub sound versus space compromise that I have ever seen. I haven't heard it but it sure does looks promising. http://www.gbmini.net/mtblog/archive...erkins_t.shtml ![]() Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs |
