Navigation Sys: Should I get it?

I don't know if I'll even use it that often. Plus CDs are by regions. If I don't get it, the only thing I don't like is the middle dash mounted speedo. Why couldn't they stick it in behind the steering wheel? Any one find this hard to see? Anyone have pics of w/o Nav system interior?
Thanks.

Well.....

The speedometer being in the center of the dashboard is in keeping with the original classic MINI layout. It made it more economical to produce LHD and RHD models without redesigning a separate dashboard for each model.

If you specify the NAV system, you will get your speedometer mounted in front of the steering wheel beside the tach. Good, but expensive way of getting the speedo where you want it!

Why spend $1,600 on something you don't think you'd use very often.

The center speedo is huge and easy to see with a quick sideward glance. Once you get used to the car, you can tell how fast you're going simply by looking at the RPMs on the tach and knowing what gear you're in.

FYI, the nav system in September should be the DVD version, so you won't have to worry about so many CD's. I think it takes either 1 or 2 DVD discs for the whole US.

Miniac is right. I have never been a real user of the tach before. Now that it is the only thing directly in front of me, I rely much more on it instead of the speedometer. I feel more in tune with the mini than anything else I have ever driven.

I also love the look of the huge center mounted speedo. Especially at night! It just adds so much character to the styling of the interior and you will find you get used to it very quickly.

The mini is your true navigation system. I just kind of go where it takes me. Sometimes I forget where I was intending to go. And that has been a good thing.

Most fun on 4 wheels.
