Offline | Navigation Sys: Should I get it? I don't know if I'll even use it that often. Plus CDs are by regions. If I don't get it, the only thing I don't like is the middle dash mounted speedo. Why couldn't they stick it in behind the steering wheel? Any one find this hard to see? Anyone have pics of w/o Nav system interior? Thanks. Indi Blue/White MCS Sport Package Cold Weather Package |

Offline | Well..... The speedometer being in the center of the dashboard is in keeping with the original classic MINI layout. It made it more economical to produce LHD and RHD models without redesigning a separate dashboard for each model. If you specify the NAV system, you will get your speedometer mounted in front of the steering wheel beside the tach. Good, but expensive way of getting the speedo where you want it! ![]() 2005 Mercedes Benz C55 AMG 2006 BMW Z4 M-Coupe - Premium Pkg. 2007 Honda Fit - Sports Pkg. 2005 V-Star 1100 Custom 2007 Honda 250 Reflex |

Once you get used to the car, you can tell how fast you're going simply by looking at the RPMs on the tach and knowing what gear you're in. ![]() |

| Jedi Master | Re: Navigation Sys: Should I get it? FYI, the nav system in September should be the DVD version, so you won't have to worry about so many CD's. I think it takes either 1 or 2 DVD discs for the whole US. IB/IB Cooper, Black Leather, every option except CVT, (plus bonnet stripes, rally lights, aero rear spoiler and floor mats). |

Offline | by miniac Miniac is right. I have never been a real user of the tach before. Now that it is the only thing directly in front of me, I rely much more on it instead of the speedometer. I feel more in tune with the mini than anything else I have ever driven. I also love the look of the huge center mounted speedo. Especially at night! It just adds so much character to the styling of the interior and you will find you get used to it very quickly. The mini is your true navigation system. I just kind of go where it takes me. Sometimes I forget where I was intending to go. And that has been a good thing. ![]() Most fun on 4 wheels. #9 Cooper at Baron KC. June 2002 build. Sport Chili Red/White. |
