Memory sticks, CDRW into CD Boost (not HK)

Hi there,
I'm about to pick up my new Astro Black Cooper but want to access multiple albums etc from the single CD with Radio Boost system (not HK).

Firstly, does this system play ReWrite CDs?

Ideally I want is
-- A memory stick hooked up into this single CD system (+Boost, no HK)
-- Controllable from the multi-function steering wheel
-- Track info readable on the stereo head unit

What would you guys suggest?

PS - Don't want a CD changer or an iPOD because there are so many reports of iPODs freezing or breaking down after 9-12 months and I really don't fancy the hassle.

An 06 mini with cd boost does indeed play CDRWs. You can store them in directories or as a data stream. However, track info is not displayed. I don't have a MFSW so cannot comment on that.

Hope this helps.

The radio boost definately plays CDRs if they are recorded as an Audio disc. Not sure if it will play a CDRW.

You're missing out by not getting an iPod - the reports you have heard are from a very small minority, trust me, I've had every single iPod up until now, and while I have had a problem with 2 of them Apple support had me a new one within 2 weeks.

You will not get text display onto the stock headunit without using an iPod.

Okay, if go with the option to replace the CD system (keeping MSFW control)
how does a memory stick work with the Kenwood 534UA USB MP3 CD Tuner system, for example?

I have not got experience with that system, I suggest if you check the manufacturers website they'll probarbly either a) have a description telling if it'll play ID3 tags from MP3s (on CD or Memory stick), or b) have a number which you can call, the question you want to ask is "Will the headunit display the ID3 tags from the MP3's on the screen when playing from memory stick".

Yes the 534 will display id3 tags from a stick
BUT it has only got a 8 character display so browsing isn't great, go higher up the range & you get a multi line display so can have folder & title details scrolling on their own seperate lines
