Another Sat nav question

Hi

I have a 2003 MCS with sat nav. I have the DVD reader under my seat and have just purchased the ROAD MAP EUROPE HIGH DVD 2006-1 version. How can i make my navigation have a 3D effect like the attached pic??? The version that i have just bought is hardly any different from my old disc which was DIGITAL ROAD MAP GB/IRELAND 2003-2. I really would like to get the most out of my nav system. Can anyone advise me.

Hi if you go to X5world and download the V28 software for your nav and burn it to a CD-R with alcohol120% or smiler and install the software in the Nav. Then go to the the settings menu and hold down the menu button till the hidden menu comes up then scroll to the bottom and select prospective to on. When you are in the map and choose direction of travel as prospective.

V28 has been released and is now available - X5world
This should take you to the right page in X5world.

No copy the V28 to a CD-R. Put that disk in the sat nav unit and turn the key to the first position. You should then see a Installing new software screen.

HELP i have copied the V28mds to a cdr and it runs for 3 mins and then comes up with an error disc is invalid.

I used winrar first to extract them into 2 files then i burnt the V28 mds file to a cdr using Img burn.

Am i doing anything wrong here??

My nav seems to have crashed and nothing is displayed.

Go and do a google serch for Alcohol120% and get a trial version. Go to X5world and download an older version like V27 or V27.1, exract the files and go to image burning wizard then get the file and burn it. Use the V27 or V27.1 to get your nav working again. I used Alcohol120% to do my sat nav I'm not sure about other programs. Then Burn the V28 again with Alcohol120% it should work.

Thanks just downloading V27 now. Do you think I may have buggered my Nav system up?

Is it like a Pc, when you half install something then it don't work properly. Just wondering if its wiped the old version of as soon as i started installing the new version.

cheers

I'm not sure but I read somewere on X5world that if you install an older version it will work again. Then you can try and install the V28 again.

Thats if you want the most resent version. I forgot that you can still get the perspective (3D) map on V27.

You don't need v27; stick with v28 as it's newest. What you're doing wrong is burning the file to a CD-R. The MDF file is an image of the disc, and the MDS is the file that tells Alcohol about the MDF file. In short, what you need to do is open Alcohol, click Image Burning Wizard on the left, and locate the MDS file. Alcohol will then create the CD from the image. That should work.

When you've successfully updated your firmware, post back and we'll help you enable perspective mode.

Ok my current situation is

Have installed V27......managed to get the nav to work again but lost the voice instructions, but everything else is fine.
Then I installed V28.....Again voices didn't work but everything else is fine.

I can run the nav in 3d on V28 and everything is perfect apart from NO VOICES for the direction instructions.

I have only lost the voices since I updated the software the first time.

Have you tried changing voices in the setup menu? Set if to something different and see if that works and then set it back. Depending on your older version, the update may or may not have have update the voice files. Do you remember when you updated if the system said it was updating the voice files?

Yes when i upgraded yesterday it came up on the installation screen GB (female) F (female) D (female)

but bearing in mind that i have been having trouble with installing the version software i went from my first version strait to V28 which coursed me problems so i installed V27.1 then I installed V28. How can I install the voice files??

Mind you, it sounds like a coding problem, but I would try this to solve the problem.

Roll back to a old version like V26 or older if you can find it and then jump back up to V28. Older files may force a voice load on the system hopefully causing a reset of the voices for you. If this doesn't work, you might have to take the car in and get the system recoded.

Ok will try that later.

Just out of interest how much would it cost roughly to have it re-coded by the mini dealer? or do you know anyone that could do it for me for a more reasonable price?
