LED? on dash centre

I have just brought a 2003 UK spec Cooper.

On the dash there is what perhaps looks like an LED on the center near the windscreen.

Should it flash when I lock the car or is it a sensor?

It dosn't flash ...

It's for the automatic aircon/climate control. It's a UV sensor.

Ah .. thanks. I have climate control.

So is there any LED to indicate that the alarm is set?

If you have the alarm there's a red end on one of the indicator stalks on the steering wheel that will flash when locked/alarmed.

Also - I don't have a spare wheel - the tyres have the RSC logo on so I guess I have the run flat system.

How far/fast can you drive on these?

Check the FAQs and stickies in each forum (eg MINI Cooper) for more advice too, but yes, if you have 16" wheels you should have runflats (see the wheel and tyre FAQs for more on that) and yes, imobiliser will be fitted.
