ipod connection

This is my first post having picked up a 54 plate Cooper S and was wondering how I can get my ipod connected?
It has a boost cd player and no satnav if that makes any difference.
cheers

There are many options availble to you. The most common is the Icelink Plus or the OEM version. Check out NewMINIStuff.com. Mikey is located in Liverpool and can help you with your MINI ICE needs. Welcome to the forum.

As Flakemeister says, the ice>Link Plus is probably the most common way, and an excellent one at that. I bought mine from NewMINIStuff, and fitted it in about half an hour. I've now got my iPod in the glovebox and just forget about it.

depends on how much you want to spend and what you want it to do... I just bough the AUX connection kit from BMW and then then hooked it up myself to the back of the stereo (very easy) and then put the 3.5mm jack connection in the glovebox. I then have a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable that goes from the glovebox and lead it out the side and then I sit my ipod in one of the cup holders... the 30g 5G ipod fits perfectly.

Yep, the AUX is an idea, but if you do it you won't be able to control the IPOD from anything but the IPOD and you have to set the volume right as well. Still a great solution if you can't afford the other.

I think I will put in my Alpine h/u. I have already got the Ipod interface for that.

Will I need a facia adapter?

Probably... Mikey (NewMINIStuff.com) would probably know better about that.

If you order the bits that Mikey mentioned and the MFSW adaptor, that's it.

I'm still kind of lost regarding an ipod connection. I have a 04/2006 Mini Cooper and I'd like to connect my G5 video 60GB iPod to my radio. I don't want to invest too much money. Is it possible to connect it using a single wire, no fancy stuff and I don't care that much being able to control my iPod via the radio or being able to play "playlist" which I don't use anyway.

I bought a FM transmiter (Kensington Pico) but it doesn't work that great.

When connecting an iPod using a wire, deos it get all the time recharged at the same time? I'd like to avoid my iPod being recharged each time I connect it.

What about this ? Is this enough for my needs? iPod > Retrofit, Aux connection > Radio Boost.

Thanks for your help.

If you're not fussed about charging and controlling from the stereo, just get the aux connection like you mention. Something like the Dension ice>Link, though double the price (and maybe a bit more), will charge your iPod and allow control via the stereo.
