| Loves the Fuzzy One | Installing an AVIC-N3 in my GP Over the past week, my fuzzy hubby has been busy installing aftermarket nav in my GP. My major job was surgical nurse, you know, hand him a #2 phillips or the 22 gauge crimpers, etc. At one point we did a major shout for help, asking both Mikeythemini and DaFlake where to find the speed sense wire. It was right where they said, once we translated from right to left drive. So, thanks Mikeythemini, your advice was great! Here's pictures of the install, Fuzzy will do the explanations: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Global Moderator |

| Loves the Fuzzy One | We think it's the blue/yellow wire on the left side, but so far the nav hasn't read a speed pulse. But, it's still in learning mode so there's hope it was the right wire.Edited to add: That turned out to not be the speed wire. Seems that the GP doesn't have one that Mikey has found yet. ![]() Global Moderator Last edited by AprilWhine : Dec 17th, 2006 at 10:02 AM. Reason: updated information |

Offline | I can only speak for where it is on the GP. Left door sill, forward of the ground block. About a foot from the A pillar, or from the front of the door opening. We have discovered that it can be in one of several places depending on the year and model of MINI. As I have only driven it about 3 miles since finishing most of the install, it has not finished calibration. Have Mikey the MINI do the job. It just cost too much to have him fly over here. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | You know, us OAP's have to conserve money whenever we can. And you know about having this type of work done locally. No Mikey around these parts. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Ian, you are THE Tron God! Also put in your most excellent auto up circuit, so now we are cruzin cool. Sherry's theory of photography is all the chip can hold, they can always be deleted. It may take me longer to learn how to work the Pioneer than it took to install it. MFSW is the only wire left to install, and clean up under the passenger seat. The IPOD display is almost worth the price. Sherry thinks that movies in the car are cool. To think that my first computer had 30k of 30 bit memory, and weighed in at 2500 lbs. Now I can watch the neat movie that Obehave made of Flame car at the next dragon, rather than wasting time doing all that driving, ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Great job! Am now tempted to buy a Pioneer. Did the ipod interface come with it or is it an Icelink Plus? Where did the gps antenna go? If there is a speed sensor wire then surely it must be possible to retro fit the Mini nav system. Thanks and well done again! |
